I would be happy to see a race at Barber. I live about 100 miles away and it's as close as Nashville for me. People who don't know the area would be surprised if Barber was a bit success, but I think it would be. Barber is close enough to Atlanta to draw from there, as well as B'ham and all points in between.
Barber Park has done better than most tracks with Grand-Am and AMA. I've been advocating an OW race there for ages. And Barber would certainly rank among the best facilites that AOWR would be running on.
I like how there are more tracks than available dates on the race calendar, rather than the other way around!
The grand-am races at Barber are pretty sweet, could be a great event but in a nascar heavy territory.
Awh, let's see. Another road course or another oval track to be added. Which one over which one? How about drawing more NASCAR fans by racing at tracks owned by the great NASCAR drivers!

It's so great to be an OWR fan in America, huh!
If we did that then Eldora and Macon can be added to the Indycar schedule.
What about adding Terre Haute? Mike King has a hand in that.
I hope this comes to pass. I live in Birmingham and am quite proud that the Barber Motorsports Park is here. The facility here is maintained like Augusta National, compared to other tracks I have visited. Beautiful grassy hills and great viewing from the wooded area on the backstretch. A great place to bring a tent, cooler and a coleman chair. I went to the IRL test there a few months ago and that was pretty cool. Went to Grand Am this past weekend too. Great turnout, maybe around 10K people? Hard to tell since there are quite a number of people that flock to the hospitality areas. There were probably 1500 in the paddock club with me.
My only request would be that an April date be made. Yesterday it was 98 degrees here and HOT. Last year, Max Angelelli had to be pulled from the car at the end of the race due to heat exhaustion. Teams were doing two driver changes yesterday, which is normally unheard of, but necessary given the heat. Kudos to Gene Hallman if he can pull this off. If it weren't for some unrealistic demands made by the Birmingham city council, Barber would have hosted Moto GP too.
PS- I recommend visiting the museum for new people making the trip. Great amount of history in there. Also, stop by and see my buddy who works at the Porsche Sport Driving School, also located at Barber.
