I was going to ask if home depot was staying with gibbs or going with stewart but i see it's been mentioned already. Is there a possible date out yet when home depot may announce what their going to do for next year?

Why did office depot decide to leave jack roush and carl edwards?

From Steve Post, SIRIUS Tradin-Paint...

Richard Childress has said JD is firmly signed with him through 2009.

Tony Stewart was firmly signed with JGR through 2009, too. Just sayin'.

Not sure which thread to put this in, but a caller to The Late Shift said they saw Tony at an appearance for the HD tonight and he said the car numbers would be the 4 and the 14.

Does that mean that Jack Daniel's won't be on the other car? Seems like they would want to take the number with them and I don't know why RCR would want to keep it.

It's a good question. I think the situation with the second car is still pretty fluid - Ryan hasn't officially signed on, and neither has Jack Daniels. Also, this was a caller to a radio show. What's that old saying? Trust but verify? smile

I just saw a video from that HD signing and a guy did indeed ask Tony what numbers he will have next year and he said the 4 and 14 hopefully. Here is the link to the video.

DUDE or DUDETTE....whatever...

Let me repeat.... Richard Childress... OWNER of the 07 in a statement TODAY said JD was firmly signed for 09.
Call him a liar if you wish or keep dreaming.

There usually are "out" clauses that allow sponsors to get out of contracts before they expire, just like how there's ways for drivers to get out of their contracts early. However, often with sponsor contract it's tied to performance and since the performance for the #07 has been very good it seems to me that it might not be easy for JD to get out of their contract with RCR even if they wanted to if it's true that they're locked in through '09. It might be that someone floated this rumor as a way to try to make something happen in relation to UPS since they were the other part of the rumor.

FYI:

Home Depot is still not out of the mix as of yet... wink

Apparently money is an issue for them, but they hope to be able to work a deal with Stewart. IMO, I think they should just scale back on all the extra promo stuff (such as race day presented by HD) and concentrate on just sponsoring the car.

Oh shucks....

Tony just said HD was NOT following him.

The following is a statement from Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing, regarding recent unsubstantiated reports in the media about Jack Daniel's leaving RCR after the 2008 season.: "Jack Daniel's and Richard Childress Racing have a contract through the 2009 season. Any reports in the media to the contrary are simply not accurate."(RCR PR)(7-10-2008)
