What has this world come to; A once great CART announcer doing play by play for a hot dog eating contest. If Tony George wants to have any chance for beating nascar tv ratings, have Paul paige in the booth for ESPN. He still has commentating talent, ever watch the X Games, he's great.

Yep, and spell his name incorrectly....

He is currently in the ABC/ESPN "fleet" of sportcasters. You go cover whatever they ask you to cover. It was probably a fun gig. He also did some snowmobile races.

He does currently have a motorsports gig. NHRA Drag racing.

And when all else fails, BLAME SPEED!

“Crap programs” are anything that I don’t like.

“Because I don’t watch it” means that nobody watches it either.

Believe it or not, this Hot Dog announcing gig shows Paul Page to be one of the best announcers around.

Here in New York everyone I know watches that Hot Dog contest. It has now become part of Fourth of July morning tradition. And here's why we watch it: the announcers make the show. They play it soooooo straight, as if it were Wimbledon or the Indy 500, and it makes the event even that more hilarious. They are spot on in their treatment of that event and only a top announcer would know how to handle such an event.

Page is a top announcer and therefore does a tremendous job with this contest. A poor announcer would not know how to call it at all. Page and his co-horts have their tongues tucked firmly in cheek and make that event a blast.

Missed that show, don't want to watch a bunch of people stuff their face with hotdogs...not real exciting if you ask me.

Yep, and you misspelled is job title. wink

From dictionary.com, just to help out:
"No results found for sportcaster.
Did you mean sportscaster (in dictionary) or Sportscaster (in encyclopedia)?"
