Had to work today, but seeing as it's a holiday I was getting paid at time and a half. No fireworks, though. The fires caused a cancellation of that. It's so bad that not even the neighbors are setting off their illegal fireworks out in the streets.
But the beer was cold and the grill was hot when I got home and I'm on 3 weeks vacation and the GP is coming to Laguna! WOOT!
I still do not understand why we celebrate our Independence on the 4th. If you want to get technical the Declaration of Independence was voted on and ratified on July 2nd, the 4th was just the signing. On top of that its just the day that we snubbed our noses at the ruler across the sea, we said that we wanted it, but we were not free.
I celebrate October 19. Thats the day that Cornwallis was forced to surrender at the Seige of Yorktown and the war was won, and we were free.
Look it up, the facts are all there. I think its a plot for a summer holiday as opposed to one in October, being so close to Halloween and all.

Party pooper...let's not let facts get in the way of a celebration!
