Jeff Gordon
Jimmie Johnson
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Mark Martin
That is one hell of a driver lineup. You've got the most dominant driver from 1995-2001, the 2-time defending Champ, the most popular driver and a driver who has finished 2nd in points 4 times.
Well done Mr. Hendrick, well done.
Jr is a 2-time Busch Champion and a 2-time Busch Series Owner Champion.
Add that and it gives it even more spice. HeHe
Was Jr Motorsports active in '98 and '99?
No, but Chance 2 Motorsports was in 2004 and 2005.

No it wasn't, but Junior did operate a team called Chance 2 Motorsports. It fielded Truex's car in 2004 and 2005, his two championship seasons.
Chance 2 Motorsports would later become Junior Motorsports.
Chance 2 was owned by both Dale Jr. and Teresa Earnhardt, then all the personnel including Truex Jr. moved up to Cup in 2006; JR Motorsports has no relation other than Dale Jr. has/had ownership of both of them.

According to racingreference.com and NASCAR, DEI owned the cars that Martin drove during his 2 championship seasons.

I recall Mark Martin saying that he wanted to move back to Arkansas and spend more time with his family. As a matter of fact he said that his move from Daytona to Arkansas was a done deal. Then yesterday one of the media guys, I think it was Larry Mac, mentioned that Mark still lives in Spruce Creek.
What happened to all the plans from two years ago?
Plans change, circumstances change. I don't think any of us has any right whatsoever to judge Mark. He has earned the right to do whatever he wants.
Personally I like it when people show flexibility, willingness and courage to change direction mid-stream.

I like Mark, and I wish him all the best... However, when he says things like he never thought he would have another chance at a championship I just roll my eyes... Has he forgotten that he got out of the #8 last year when he was #1 in points?!!!

But then that honeymoon period ended and the 01 took a bit of a dive in performance, then the merger with DEI happened.

If Rick Hendrick is going to offer you a ride with the caveat being that you need to come back full time, then I think any logical driver is going to take him up on it.
True class is coming to that 5 car, just like the old days with Labonte. Not a Hendrick fan, but I am a Martin fan, I hope he wins Daytona finally!

I am not saying that he does not have the right to change his mind.
I am just really surprised as he seemed so dead set on returning to Arkansas, etc.

I'd love to see Mark win the championship next year and retire on top!
