In other words, they've gone around in a circle and come back to a class structure they should have decided on in the first place.

Ya think maybe the track owners have had some input? A quite a few places the AMA races are the biggest event of the year in terms of attendance.

Just goes to show all us idiots how smart RE and DMG are.......we would never have come up with that idea. Well..maybe FNL and louistheshark would have.
Seriously, I would love to know how much all the negative response to their original proposals have influenced this latest thought. I would bet that the comments from the riders, OEMS, fans and promoters have been very large factors in this.

I'm sure the (cough) PLOY (cough) of the manufactures, shopping for a series to take over Superbike racing didn't have anything to do with it. Roger Edmondson started two motorcycle series and Steve McGlauphin (McGlaglin?? whatever) started WSB. I'm sure the manufactures pulling together and backing WERA or whoever cold get something going and DMG know that.
For me it has nothing to do with a love for the manufactures. DMG bought the right to AMA racing and threatened to change it into something I don't want. It is amazing when people can compromise and things work out...I hope.

I cannot believe this - DMG accepting FIM class structure?? World Superbike specs so that the OEMs will stick around AMA racing?? Why didn't the DMG boneheads do this to begin with??
One way or the other, it appears there is indeed a light at the end of the tunnel. Hope it pans out --

Some additional comments from Suzuki's Mel Harris and Kawasaki's Bruce Stjernstrom.

My guess is they really don't care what the public reactions were, from these boards, the racers or media when they started announcing all their changes. The backpedalling began when the OEM's who pay all the bills started pulling their money out. DMG knows they don't have anyone to fill that void so they need the OEM's money, nothing more and nothing less. Doesn't mean their long term goal has changed, it just means they need to keep it friendly for the next few years until they can get other revenue streams built.
Nascar weathered a similar storm a few years back when Toyota announced it would be entering the series. The die hard fans pi@@ed abd moaned, it warranted some articles in the sports section, etc ..... but in the end they did what they wanted and everything is forgotten.
