I'll be watching but I think this is the kind of race weekend (actually day) that GA doesn't need.
A couple hours of practice, then qualy, then race all in one day is pretty bush league in my opinion.
Is this in advance of a nascar race by any chance??? If so, they do the same thing at the Glen..run a who cares race on Friday...good for the sportscar fans...the nascar fans could care less.

Yeah, there's NASCAR races Friday and Saturday nights.
But hasn't there been a sports car race at Daytona for the 4th of July for a long time now? Maybe doing it all on one day is kinda quick. Does anyone know more about this?
The Paul Revere, as it's called, has been a part of the sports car calendar for decades. Back in the day it was run
at midnight July 3rd in conjunction with the NASCAR Firecracker 400 weekend. These days, with so many minor league
series associated with NASCAR it takes all weekend to hold an event. Which means that sportscar racing being the afterthought
that it is gets pushed to the side and treated like the red-headed step-child.
I'm all for GA going to Daytona twice a year but I think GA should be racing at a different venue on the weekend of the 4th.
If GA feels the need to share a race weekend to attract a more diverse fan base that's cool, too but how
about doing it with IRL instead?
According to wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brumos_Porsche_250 ), the July race at Daytona does go back quite a way to 1967, with a twelve-year hiatus before returning with Grand-Am in 2000.
Grand-Am is Mr. France's show so it makes sense to pair with NASCAR at Daytona.
Most of the teams were there in November and January for testing and then again for the 24, So two hours and five minutes of practice in three sessions is OK.
Also a 1 day event is pretty cost effective, events before and after are on the East coast, and
another event at Daytona gives new teams and part timers a taste of Grand-Am's BIG SHOW , the 24.....whioh is really important to their supporters.
Thanks of the heads up. I remember SPEED use to advertise their races on a pretty steady schedule but lately its seems their advertising has gone down or is just me?
