Is it just me, or is Jonathan Green the loudest, most obnoxious and rudest WSBK race commentator ever?

I just watched a video interview of Green, and he seems perfectly normal, with a very pleasant voice and manner. But when he gets behind a microphone, he goes beserk. His voice hits "screech-level" at every opportunity, he interrupts his color man constantly, and he makes comments that are often inaccurate, simply because his voice is way ahead of his brain. Others I've spoken to agree that his presence behind the mic makes watching WSBK more like work than entertainment.

Anyway, if our hearing becomes impaired by Green's hyper-decibel squeals, do we have a civil case against Speed?

The guy the does MotoGP is a lot more annoying so is Freddie Spencer on the AMA broadcasts. I actually like the WSB announcers.

I can't stand the guy. He almost sounds like the Nascrap guys trying to build up excitement just when it is not there and timing things so badly. At times it is almost he is watching another race. The guy appears knowledgable otherwise. His voice is terrible, takes the fun out of watching races.

I don't know. Sometimes when he gets excited he reminds me of Monty Python. You know "nudge nudge, wink wink". He is knowledgable no doubt. Thankd God he lack the Shaheen volume.

While they're not perfect, I'll take the British (and Aussie) guys any day.

They have a distinct advantage in that none of them are Ralph Sc-ream, nor do they spend large chunks of the already truncated broadcast shilling for Speed.

They're also refreshingly non-PC at times - like Umbrella Girls (you know, those young ladies that are dressed like the working women down by the bus station?).

I wonder how this will shape-up?:

By the way, is everybody enjoying those obnoxious new bugs/banners that appear on the bottom of the screen for Speed.com (accompanied by blaring Thrash Metal that sounds like Dethklok)? They're especially welcome when they drown out the race commentary. A new high-water mark of obnoxiousness for Speed.

What the hell is up with those things??? They bug the crap out of me. It's bad enough that there has to be another banner ad for a stupid Speed reality show on screen, but then to include obnoxious music?? Why do people think ridiculous music somehow enhances the message or makes it more exciting??

It's like any stupid clip you see on the internet - just because you can add music to the video, doesn't mean you have to. I think your taste in music SUCKS, and I shouldn't be forced to listen to it. It's like a punk driving down the street with his car stereo bumpin', you're an idiot. Times like this I wish I was a cop. And I'd write a ticket to everyone on a stupid loud Harley-Davidson, too.

Jonathon Greening is shocking. He also commentates on the Speedway on Sky and he is a ranting fool. He is at least three octaves too high.

Scott Smart sometimes co-commentates and is a knowledgeable pundit.

As stated, Eurosport have lost MotoGP for next year, and Toby Moody, Jules Ryder and Randy Mamola are out of a job after Valencia...

i hate screamers and the synthetic enthusiasm is annoying but the guy is funny. it cracks me up that he's always referencing his time in the mid 80s at dance clubs with the "two troys go to war" play on the frankie goes to hollywood song.

Yes, he is funny; I remember him once referring to someone on a Xerox Ducati cranking out fast laps one after another as "each lap being photocopy of eachother', or some such thing.

Yeah, screamers are distracting.. wink

Now that Toseland is gone I can deal with him. It was almost unbearable while JT was racing. Talk about a true fanboy. I have to hand it to him, he sells a lot of his comments. If one of the racers co-commenters push him, Green will say, "fair enough". He'll never say he's wrong.

What ever happened to Larry Huffman? I though he added quite a bit of shoutxcitement to the AMA races when he was calling them. Now I guess he seems mild manner compared to today's announcers much like the way metal music compares to today's rock.

Are you sure you meant Larry Huffman? He used to call the supercross races in the 70's & early 80's until Clear Channel took over and kicked him to the curb. He is still doing some commercial work. And he's shown up at some of the IMS shows. But he never did road racing.
