First of all my sympathies to all the crews re-building after the Richmond race...I hope everyone gets their act together in time for the Glen..
Secondly I hope some forum fans will be in attendance, its going to be a great weekend. I'll be there flagging Friday through Sunday...
Last...what are your hopes and opinions as far as the competition?

Even with no data for that track, I predict The KV and NHL teams figure Watkins Glen out pretty quick and get a couple of top 5's. I know that is ambitious, but it is quite possible. Dixon would be hard to bet against for the win and I have mixed feelings about that. Nothing against him, I just want to see some real competition. Hope for mostly cloudy skies, and a light breeze. That's for you, have fun flagging. I'll probably watch the race at home and play at the river. It's bikini season here and long weekends bring out swarms of them.

My hopes: It's the same type of race as St.Pete, the top guys at the front, alternate strategies playing out, several different leaders and a nice sprint to the finish like the Rahal/Castroneves battle, even if it did end with Graham pulling away from him.
Early thoughts: A KV Racing car gets into victory lane

KV was at the track for the test last Wednesday, but from what I read they had limited track time...

Finally, a REAL race!. I have had it up to here with the cookie cutters and the teeny-tiny ovals. Is Watkins Glen the best road course in NA? No, far from it. But its a solid honest test of driving skill. And that's what this series needs right about now.

You just describe an xciting race...which is why IndyCar needs an even split(ovals & r/c ) for nxt yrs schedule....sadly x-CC teams chassis right now are probably so bang up especially after last night , drivers orders are probably to bring the car back in one piece, which in turn dilutes the racing.

Three of us will be there all 3 days :)
As for the race, this year Dixon finally gets some competition! The usual cast of characters at the Glen will be quick: Dixon, Helio and Marco but I'm looking for great showings from Wilson, Viso and Power, and probably Rahal. Junky and Servia could also be surprise, heck maybe even Bernoldi.
I'm picking Marco in a very competitive race, & I'll hope it's dry all weekend...let it rain on the Glen's nascar weekend.
I am hoping for a lot of action on track though because off track I doubt we can top the Kanaan vs Hornish Sr. scrum after the race last year ;)

They are already predicting rain for the several days around the race. Should be a fun weekend for the hearty souls that attend. Sadly, I can't make it this year. I'm sure that Marco, a little older, a little wiser will not try his same bonehead moves from a couple years ago. The Glen in the rain is quite an intimidating track. It will separate the racers from the posers, that's for certain. Although a road course, I don't believe many, if any, of the former CC guys have been there. But, it's a real driver's track and it's easy to learn. I don't think it will take guys like Servia, Wilson or Rahal much time to get up to speed. I'm prepared for some suprises on the podium next weekend.

I look for a Newman/Haas/Lanigen victory, either Wilson or Rahal. I would say that Rahal, Wilson, Power and Servia all score top 7 finishes. The rest of the top 7 will be Dixon, Andretti and Briscoe.

thats a lot of driving. i wish i could make the trip up to NY, Watkins Glen has so much history, its not the best show of the year but its a special race anyway.
im predicting Will Power getting the W. with Kannan and Dixon rounding out the podium.
