Their trouble might only be temporary if funding can be found, but without immediate help, the popular privateer Corvette GT2 team’s season is in jeopardy.

This is awful news, even though it was expected. In a very short time, Lou and his black & flame Corvette have become not only a fan favorite, but also an important part of the series. The #28 car led a group of newcomers to compete with the Porsches and Ferraris and thereby make the GT2 class much more diverse and potentially more competitive. This is the American Le Mans Series, and Corvette is perhaps the most significant American sports car ever. ALMS needs Corvette in GT2. ALMS needs the hard-charging LG Motorsports team. Marshall: Are you aware of anyone who can help? I’ve heard that Paul Tracy has a sponsor, he may have an interest. How about a large auto dealership or multi-dealership owner? How about Jay Leno? – He’s a Corvette lover. You seem to be close to the movers and shakers in motorsports, do you have any ideas?

I'd like to think GM would be willing to help, the reason being to have a car that would compete against the Ferraris and Porsches, to have an American sports car go up against the Europeans, but I'm not optimistic or even hopeful. But if they could suggest a potential sponsor that LG could talk to that would be a boost in itself. After all, GT2 is currently the most competitive category in the entire ALMS and Corvette would do themselves a favor to be there. Who knows, GT2 - and the Corvette - could live up to its potential and maybe even exceed it.
