ALLARD WINS FRIDAY NIGHT DIRT CUP PRELIMINARY AT SKAGIT SPEEDWAY

When a two-time former Dirt Cup champion wins as convincingly as Jonathon Allard did Friday night at the 2008 Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup presented by Camping World RV at Skagit Speedway, the rest of the field better take notice. When the 30-lap main event was over Jonathon Allard was in winner’s circle and the rest of the field was left scratching their head as he dominated the final race of the night. Allard led all 30 laps and was never seriously challenged.
The race for second place was a donnybrook with Barry Martinez and Brock Lemley swapping places for a half lap. On lap 24 Martinez and Lemley along with Steve Kilcup were all involved in an accident, which sent Kilcup to the pits ending his night, Martinez and Lemley on the hook in the work area. Brent Kaeding finished second with Jared Ridge third.
Winning the C Main was Mike Sather with Johnny Gray taking the second and final transfer spot into the B. The B main transferred 7 cars with Tayler Malsam winning, taking Danielle Huson, Brandon Johnson, Bud Kaeding, Jesse Whitney, Kyle Hirst and Steve Kilcup.
Heat race winners were Martinez , Jason Bloodgood, Jeff Hodgson, Lemley, and Brent Kaeding.
The field is set for the Saturday night A main, minus the B main transfers. The top six, Tyler Walker, Jayme Barnes, Roger Crockett, Jonathon Allard, Jesse Whitney and Brock Lemley will run the scramble to set the first 6 positions in the main. Rounding out the feature are Travis Rutz, Jeff Hodgson, Mitch Olson, Brent Kaeding, Aaron Fell, Eric Fisher, Barry Martinez, Colton Heath, Tayler Malsam and Tim Kaeding.
Saturday nights finale for the $25,000.00 top prize gets underway at 7:00 p.m. The spectator gates open at 5:00 p.m.
