With all the talk about the GT categories being changed in the near future, I have an idea. Let the GT1 category be similar to the current GT2 class with 8.0L N/A engines and 4.0L turbo/supercharged and let the GT2 class be for smaller cars such as the Honda S2000, BMW Z4, Nissan 350Z, Lotus Exige, and so on with maximum engine capacities of 4.0L N/A and 2.0L turbo/supercharged. I think if Le Mans wants to have diversity, let it allow smaller cars to race so that more manufacturers can come in and race. Keep up the good reporting.

I see smaller compact cars as strictly "touring cars" and nothing else. The 350Z could be in GT2 if it was allowed forced induction or a very hyper V6 but I'm not sure ALMS would allow force induction in a regularly N/A car.

Interesting idea. I think breaking it down by horsepower and aero would be a better way. I definitely like seeing more manufacturers involved.
