Here is Ronald ten Kate trying to be as polite as he can without calling DMG a bunch of idiots

From Superbike Planet

Q I wonder if you might have an opinion about the rule changes here in America, or what you know of them? Can you talk about it at all?

A Well, I heard a little bit about it.

Q Supposedly, someone said that you found the rules "interesting." I don't know if it's true or not.

A No. I find them interesting because they are very, very weird. I find it interesting because I would like to know if somebody can explain me, I will be very interested to hear. Because I doubt that somebody can explain this. It's killing the racing. And if they want a series which is close together, I think a mono tire rule could do a lot in that. But it's not, to start the series, what they want. You must not forget that motorcycle racing is not car racing. It's something different.

that was a great interview with ten kate.

i will NOT watch AMA stuporbike if these changes go through.

WSBK will have a 30 bike field next year with eleventy billion different makes and the best riders in the world.

AMA will have: mule races.

Here is the difference I see:

On one of the fastest road courses in America, and nearly the longest one, the entire SuperSport field set times within 10% of the fastest 1000cc Superbike ridden by one of the best riders in the world. This by riders on nearly stock motorcycles that cost less than the radiator on the Superbike. The spread between the fastest and slowest rider in the 14 rider Superbike field was around 9 seconds. ForSuperSport, the 20 riders were all within about 6 seconds and about 1/2 dozen of them were faster than the last "superbike" in the field.

On a four mile course the difference between the fastest of each was "7 freakin" seconds. Or put less elegantly, 1.75 seconds per mile. Without a stop watch I cannot see that kind of difference from my seat trackside. Can you?

I have absolutely no idea what your point is.

Isnt it amazing what you can do with numbers.Try these numbers on.At the average speed the superbikes are traveling,7 seconds would be almost 4 football fields per lap.To answer your qustion,YES i can see the difference in 1100 feet per lap.If you attended races, you could to

Look on the bright side. Its seven seconds more per lap that you get to see the bikes!

Gary, go back and read it again. Slowly. The points are clear to anyone who is not dedicated to an anti-DMG point of view.

I'm not advocating anything. I'm not saying it will be better. I'm continuing to say that I will give it a shot and that I cannot see the speed differences of 1.75 seconds per mile from the grandstands if all the machines are going about the same speed. Yes, if one current "superbike" was on the track with 20 of the 2009 "superbikes", I could see it. But once they start racing, I'll not be saying "wow, I could of had a V8 (1000cc)".

The racing will be the best bikes allowed by the rules and the riders will be the best ones in America who are not riding in the World Championships.

Question for Povol: Do you watch FX, Superstock or Supersport either in person or at the track? And if so, why?

If you are asking can I see the speed difference between a SS bike and a superbike, the answer is unquestionably yes. If you cannot you should see an optometrist. You can also see the difference between a MotoGP bike and a 250, although times are closer than SS to superbike. They are visibly faster.
