1. Scott Dixon, cool, calm, and collect. Dominating.

2. Vitor Meira, one car team, great guy, never gives up. Two giant thumbs up to Vitor.

3. Ryan-Hunter Reay, rookie of the year. Fine drive.

4. Oriol Servia, lead lap, top 12 (I think). Fine job by KV Technologies.

5. Tomas Scheckter, strong run. Did not get the result he and his team deserved.

6. Justin Wilson, looked good early. Just got caught out towards the end. Great attitiude. Look forward to seeing him and Graham back in '09.

I'd like to add Mutoh to that list as well. He made a pretty nice save fairly late in the race and looked pretty sharp as well.

I was quite taken aback by the moves Servia and Meira made. They made me stand up and shout.

1. Meira - what an awesome pass!

2. Schekter - deserved much better than to break on a pit stop, very fast.

3. RHR - good drive for a rookie driving for a supposed weaker team.

For what it's worth, in Turn 4, Stand H, section 18, the biggest cheer during the race (by FAR) were for the video board's showing of Meira's pass. Next up would be Kanaan taking the lead, and the thing that seemed to cause the most "Oh, no"s was Schekter breaking (was surprised it seemed that bummed people out more than Danica taken out by Briscoe - but everyone wanted to see her get to his car on her "angry walk").

It was hard to tell from the replay screen, but during the race, at the track, it didn't seem like people thought it was Marco's fault with TK. Maybe it was, gonna check the replay out (local TV in Indy doesn't show it live, but replay it in full at 8pm).

I'm not surprised that Meira at all. I mean he's been doing well in the IRL for a while now and I personally believe if he was added onto to any of the top 3 teams he'd rule for a long time.

Ryan did a great job mostly for a guy that is usually called a road course junkie.

Scheckter had a great opening run to bad he couldn't end it that way.

Ed Carpenter. Everyone has called into question his ability but this year and even to some extent last year he has shown he has the talent to be there. He just had a long learning curve. Vision has become a much better team but the pit stops are going to kill any chance Ed has of winning. His pit crew MUST become better.

As a personal favorite (irregardless of what anyone will say) Buddy Lazier. He took a crapbox car and with very little time in it and while staying out of trouble today came home 17th. For that team, that car owner and that driver it's as good as a win.

I know, but, just a mention. Until her accident, and I think Buddy Lazier chopped down on her, Milka Duno was doing a fine job. She was always on the lead lap. And, even there, she was not the last driver on the lead lap.

My vote goes to RHR.
Considering the rain and lack of practice through the month, I thought RHR was up front and in the fight to the finish today. Definitely deserves rookie of year. Great job by RHR and the team. As the team gains more knowledge about the car, RHR should be fun to watch this season.

1. Vitor Meira - A great pass he pulled out on the restart-- probably the most exciting part of the race. It's too bad that last caution occurred because Vitor was leading, but went back to 2nd when the field pitted.

2. Ryan Hunter Reay - The highest finishing rookie, judging from the post race interviews, it seems like he learned a lot while running.

3. Mario Moraes - Hey he led some laps at Indy, which not a lot of drivers can say they have done so... so even though he was one of the slowest cars on the track, he led a lap or two and finished.

4. Scott Dixon - Congrats to Scott for winning, leading the most laps, arguably having the best car. A great month for Dixon!

5. EJ Viso- From where I was sitting, he passed a number of cars from his starting position of 26th. SInce I went to the race, it was hard to hear what happened to his car, but he was running right near the top 10 before he retired.

6. Tomas Scheckter - Moving from 11th to 4th in the first few laps was one of the best parts of this years 500... However, BAd luck found Scheckter again.
