Wasn't that part of new car package that they added mandatory weight on the right side? I believe 100lbs. Seems like I heard that as one of the complaints last year when the car first came out.

50/50 left/right weight distribution is the current rule. Flies in the face of everything everybody knows about oval track racecar setups.

Permitting a 55% left side bias would be a big help, imo and would cost very little. They're all running some ballast and could move it around to suit. Cheap.

They were able to do that before weren't they? They could change sides and move it from front to back. Now isn't it mandatory now that is fixed in a place designated by NASCAR?

All that NASCAR needs to do is allow for the teams to build some downforce into the noses of the car and allow for more front travel. It is absolutely insane that they aren't doing this. They are ruining the very sport that they are trying to improve. I suspect that it has more to do with ego at this point than anything else.

Amp, I am just curious on your reasoning on how adding downforce will help?

The way I see it if you are going to have downforce then you might as well go the indy way which is to put so much downforce in the cars that you are flat out all the way around, even in dirty air. The racing is close, sure, but is it racing? It would be the engine that makes the difference and the driver just turns a wheel.

By adding more downforce, imo, would make them quicker for one which will just make the aero/tire issues worse and hit the walls harder when something happens.

How about removing ALL the downforce? Design the car with zero downforce and maybe even a tiny bit of lift which would give the trailing car, in dirty air the advantage. You won't have an aero push with a car that doesn't depend on the air to glue the nose to the track, it will be all mechanical.

Just to help them turn and have the stability to run side by side.
