Watching after the race, as the "victory lane' gang were chatting, the camera pans around and lands on Dale Jarrett. First, Jimmy thinks he is Kyle, and then to see a great man and racecar driver exiting the car for the VERY last time, and not a single soul there to greet him!!!! Speed reporters really blew that one, for he should have been at the top of the list to talk to.!!! Guess Kyle really is changing the face of NASCAR, everyone is beginnng to exibit signs of no respect, or revere for those that paved the way.

Dale got a ton of attention prior to the race and they did show him exiting his car at the end of the race coverage. He was way off the pace tonight and it was probably better to just let him be.

Now let's not blame this on Kyle. Pretty absurd.

Yes Speed was no-class tonight. Whether it was playing music during the invocation or having a camera on DJ exiting but failing to interview him, they pitched a fat failball tonight.

You know, I have always wondered, why is NASCAR the only sport that shows the invocation and Anthemn before every event? Even stick and ball sports only do it once a year. What makes NASCAR so special?

I hope I never get to the point where I do not want to hear the National Anthem.

Why do believe it's problem? I for one believe it's classy move by Nascar.

I am just wondering why NASCAR is the only one that does it. No problem with it, just curious.

Most stick and ball sports "bury" the national anthem with commercials or other promotional spots so they can meet their required sponsorship commitments.

Also, most stick and ball sports don't offer an hour plus of pre-game commentary before starting the pre-game rituals (national anthem, special first pitch, etc.). They have their two and a half to three hour scheduled time slot, and much of the "pre-game pomp and circumstance" is eliminated for television viewers.

NASCAR has a much larger window (thanks to the pre-race show buffer) in which they can show it all.

*edit* If you listen to Baseball or Hockey via Radio, you'll notice when they bury the national anthem by trying to squeeze in that extra set of commercials after announcing starting lineups and before the first pitch/puck drop.

"Starting lineups brought to you by xxxxxxx.... Let's take one more break before the start of the game, you're listening to xxxxxxx.... (as the anthem starts in the background)"

i like nascar, but i think they need less pre-race, i like F1's pre-race, when they start their coverage, at least the drivers are in their suits. the race starts at 8, lets start coverage at 3, by that point im sick of nascar, and their 'personalities', they need less pre-race. they should keep the invocation and anthem tho.
