I was disappointed w/the Allstar race & Speed's coverage this year myself. I agree that it did not live up to the hype that Speed had been counting down all year for. Instead of seeing them just talk all during the Raceday show, perhaps it would've been better if they'd cover the race that was going on on the track. I was hoping they'd have that feature again where the crew chiefs like Chad Knaus & I think, Ray Evernham were racing. I was also disappointed w/the driver intros-I wish they'd do it like they did in '06 where the drivers could do an intro that shows off their personalities. If the fans could have any input, maybe we could start writing Nascar & Speed w/ideas for cool stuff now so that next year's AllStar will be together.
Anyway, congrats to Kasey Kahne. Although alot of what happened during the race & the outcome I somewhat question, it's still good to see Kasey in victory lane.
That had to be the most boring Allstar race ever....It probably would have been more exciting watching the yellow paint on the wall dry. Man, Nascar needs to come up with something better than that if they want people to keep watching.
i fell asleep after kyle went out.
woke up and it was over.
doesn't sound like i missed much.
but it does look like the fans were smart enough to vote in the only decent driver from the shootout.
B.T.W.
frenchy finished about where i said he would.
It was like when Tiger Woods isn't in contention in a tournament and everyone loses interest. When their boy Kyle went out the announcers were kind of lost. It looks like NASCAR will have to call a lot of debris cautions in the 600 to keep everyones interest because without having to stop for segments Kyle would have lapped the field.

Ummm, no... His engine still would have blown up...

the announcers sounded lost because there was'nt much to talk about....racing wise.....
After watching my recording of the All Star race I realize that the race wasn't quite as boring as I made it out to be. There was quite a bit of side by side but it was deeper in the field. I think that I was just really frustraed that the 24 sucked so bad and was looking for something to hate on.

To me the race just sucked, it didn't matter how good or bad your car was if you were in the lead no one could touch you. It also didn't matter how much better your car was than the person in front of you it's going to take you 20 laps to pass them. There is a difference in good racing and making the cars so you have to spend half the race trying to get by a guy who was 2 tenths slower than you until you caught up to his rear bumper.

I see your point and I agree that there were some very dull moments. The new car totally sucks. It's going to drive some of our favorite drivers out of the sport before their time.

You do not want racing. What you want is "passing."
Just reminded me of how much cars make the difference.
Juan and his car were doomed from the beginning to be mid packers. Those cars in the front are just so much faster . . . .
jpm should be about equal to the # 9 they are both dodges and have been running about the same all year. The # 9 did ok!!! I don't think the # 42 made any of the right adjustments poor crew chief or poor driver feed back. just went backwards all night.

yep, whatever the reason was, Juan was going no where towards the front. The more times they went around on each of the "quarters" - the guys in the front just kept on distancing themselves.
And as for Dodges - whatever the difference is between Dodges, I just keep on hoping for Juan's team to bring it up a notch. It did seem to be happening when he was consistently getting better a couple of races back but then the team has gone back to mid pack mode.
I'm a fan of Juan, and I will keep on hoping for the better as Juan does his best to help bring his team to contender mode.

What I want is that if a car is way faster than another car they can pass them without spending 10 minutes doing so. I saw cars last night catch other cars by about 2 tenths a lap only when they got to the rear of the other car they couldn't make it around them because of the "dirty air". The main reason NASCAR switched to the CoT other than safety was to get rid of the aero push you get when you are behind the other cars on the track and they have failed miserably.
