The races are never going to be as good as they were until fans let Nascar know that we don't watch to see cars follow each other around the track. The COT has proven that they can't really pass but if you only can go fast if you are in the lead then we can just watch the first lap for the winner. DJ had some great ideas on the Dave Despain program, they all made sense - they should put him in charge. hmmm Fans have the power to force changes!

It wasn't terrible, but considering Speed's been counting down to it since January, it didn't live up to the hype.

Are you people kidding?...That was the WORST race in the All-Star Series history! First off, it should be like any other series in racing, (Showdown is a Heat), first two advance to final. NASCAR, in their wisdom and undying love for money and sponsors gets a FAN vote. What? It's an ALL-Star Race!!! If you don't make it, you go home! You think those guys and gals that race every weekend at local short tracks get a FAN vote? NOT! It's a farse! It's a way of NASCAR making money. And after the race, where was the coverage of Jarrett and his last race EVER? I'm not a Jarrett fan but think it was disrescpectful to a great driver. Those pogues at NASCAR need to get a clue before their fans start raising cane. And what about Mark Martin who started way in the back and DW or his stooges never mentioned his trek to the front? I think the Speed coverage was flawed and are disappointed with the coverage. Remember this...COT is the same thing the people chewed in Somalia. I would rather miss any new SPRINT, (which should only be called CUP), race to go to my local short track and watch real racing. NASCAR has brought in too many sponsors and let the series get out of hand. Get back to racing and let the driver settle it on the track and in the pits! And Speed should not allow it's commentators to wear different sponsors on their shirts or jackets ( JEGS, DODGE etc). If they work for Speed, it should only be Speed...it confuses the audience. Just a thought. Steve Gaffney at Sprint only wants to support their FAN vote crap.

Thoughts?

The fans have no input on NASCAR as long as the France's have anything to do with it. If they did, there wouldn't be that stupid COT, the choke plates on the super speedways, and the cars just might resemble something you might see in a dealer showroom.

Yeah I know you are right, I just miss the real races, so I hope that the fans would have some input. I am also VERY sick of the 18 driver (can't stand saying his name) being praised like he was God, it was obvious that who ever was in the lead could perform just as good or better than he did when he was in the lead. I also agree that DJ deserved something - but none of these people are getting anything right these days. It is getting really frustrating.

Here is a secret of these kinds of thread. First, you find out who the people are rooting for in the race. Once that is determined, you can pretty easily find out why the race was boring.

For me, I liked the race. That is enough for me. Each race does not have to border on the spectacular.

I, for one, thought it was great racing all night, with a tremendous amount of passing. Where, exactly, did Kasey Kahn start, and how many cars did he pass? That 77 car got 3 laps down, and where did he finish? He was passing guys like Tony Stewart right up to the end.

It seems that only "fans" who wanted to see a wreckfest demolition derby were disappointed. They were rewarded with a demonstration of great driving ability instead, and, sadly, many seem to have been let down.

As for me, my disappointment was in some of the strategy calls such as the four tire stop that left Earnhardt hopelessly far behind after running well at the front, and the surprising engine failures of Busch and Hamlin.

As far as DJ deserving something: did you miss the portion of the pre-race show with all the ceremony and DJ driving the Brown Truck all around the track? His Father even gave the pre-race prayer and mentioned DJ in it. Given DJ's showing in the race, it might have been an embarrassment to him to have been subjected to a lot of hoopla after the race.

Those of you who enjoyed the race kinda missed the point. The format was aweful! It was by no means exciting racing! Before COT, racing at Charlotte was more side by side...now it's boring. I have one favorite driver but also a manufacturer. Which are not the same. Good point that it was a test session, especially for the Toys. I really hope they run some illegal crap and get some owner points docked. The females must have come out in force to get Khane voted in. I mean really, who does a commercial in a fire suit that has hearts on it and dancing like a wuss?

The pre-race was ok. If DJ had DNF'ed, that still would have not been an embarrassment. His career stands for itself. But they missed it by a mile! DJ's racing career is over and they want to interview a bunch of drivers who will never accomplish what he has. It makes me want to go to the track and throw beer cans at the booth, not the cars.

Can you imagine what 600 miles of points racing is going to be like if that was the best they could do in an all star shootout? Sorry, but COT just isn't the answer. How much longer are the fans going to except this??? mad
