This is ridiculous, Nascar needs to put a stop to the "skewing". With the wing, the CoT already looks weird, but now it is extremely weird.
I thought the point of the CoT was to get rid of the twisted bodies on the old car. This "skewing" is a whole lot worse of an aero monstrosity than the old car ever was!
How does Nascar expect there to be good side by side racing with the cars running sideways on the straightaways? The old car would go extremely fast by itself, but could barely race side by side because of the twisted bodies. I know the "skewed" cars go fast by themselves, but I can't see these guys running side by side.
If Nascar doesn't put a stop to this fast, before the end of the year we'll end up with the same situation we were in with the old car!

NASCAR put the teams in a box by not giving the teams any room to work on aero and front travel. NASCAR is to blame for these ridiculous crab walking cars. They also said they weren't going to change the rules so they are stuck. Hoepfully some of the teams can figure out how to run less yaw ans rely on mechanical grip because these cars look stupid as hell.

FWIW - The teams are not making adjustments to the body of the car. That would be against the rules. LOL. The COT will look the same unless someone has access to an overhead camera on the straights. Adjustments are being made to the rear axle assembly which is allowed and has always been a custom fit in a race car. With the added benefit of less tyre stress created when more weight was placed on the right side of the cars.

What the teams are doing now started to show up a few races back and now at Darlington it is in full effect. It's a pretty basic adjustment actually, something that the dirt-trackers have been doing for decades, towing out the rear axle housing setting the car up for a seemingly perpetual turn.
The teams have been fighting the new style car to get it to turn. The problem has been that when the car was tight or pushing the front end and when adjustments were made the car would get snappy-loose. There were no wedge or air pressure adjustments that were hitting the middle point.

NASCAR gets sadder every year. Almost ten years to design this new car and they end up with a car that looks like it was in a demolition derby. With all the engineers on the teams you would have thought NASCAR would have had them involved in the cars but didn't. Every time they try to solve a problem the sport becomes more of an embarrassment.

These Crab cars make the twisted sister look like fine art... It's like watching a beat up old car going down the highway...

It was funny listening to the announcers talk about how the drivers of the cars that are Skewed have to set the steering wheel. Can any of you paint or draw? Make a picture of the cars front end looking at the in-field and the rear of the car pointed at the outside wall with the wheels going sideways from the car. IE wheels pointed in direction of travel around the track.
The cars will always be facing the inside of the track. Then also there will also always be side-by-side racing with them setup like this even if they are single file.

Wow this sounds like the old gripping of NASCAR should ban the cowl binding set up. To be honest I think it is cool NASCAR gave them the box and guess what the teams are making it work the best they can. Also it is an old dirt track trick so isn't it a bit of a back to basics approach? IMO any thing that goes back to the way it is done on local dirt tracks is a good thing. I would rather have skewd race cars that are setup with the chassis and suspension like the old dirt trackers than having twisted contorted Aero monstrosities made by machines computers and F1 style aerodynamic engineers.

I understand exactly what you are saying but that doesn't change the fact that these cars look just plain stupid running all sideways down the straights. The old car may have been a bit twisted but at least they looked like race cars.

NASCAR should get off the asphalt tracks and just run dirt if that's how they want to set-up their cars.

I'm waiting for a tire to fail on one of the teams that are doing this and blame it on Goodyear.
