I think it,s time to bring raceing back where it started. And the nascar folks are finding out Cali and vegas just can,t fill the stands. Looks like they would have had enough smarts to know people ain,t gonna set out in 100plus temps. and there are many more fans here in the south. just my opion webbfoot20

They aren't exactly filling the stands down south, either, partner. Guess you haven't noticed, sitting out in that 90 degree heat with 98% humidity. wink
NASCAR attendance is down all over.

Ticket prices too high. Concession stands too expensive. Now gas to get there is higher. Add in the stupid rules Bry has introduced and fans are going to think twice about spending their entire summer vacation budget for a single three hour event. As compared to the early 90s when it cost $15 to sit on the side of Rattlesnake Hill and get a panoramic view at Phoenix, or the 80s when it was $10 for general admission at Riverside.

I'm a lifelong NASCAR fan, and I still enjoy the sport.

But to be honest, I've gotten into a much more exciting series this year. I've started watching the British Touring Car Championship, and I'm completely addicted.

I'd never seriously watched any sort of touring car series until this; wow, incredible stuff. These guys know how to put on a good show, and there's some great racing in just about every round.

Short races, close competition, and each car has its own quirks...it's not just a template-fit, keep 'em as close as possible style. I wish I could get something like that here. wink

Okay, those days are gone and won't come back. GAs prices may eventually get to the point that going to a race at any venue and regardless of type will be out of the question. For my part, I remmember the old Camel GT races at Charlotte in the early and mid 80s: fifteen bucks would get you any seat in any part of the grandstand, access to the paddock between races, and more. Now look at what it costs just to get inside the gates. Food was as reasonably priced back then, but look at it now. And the same T-shirt I paid ten for would now cost at least twenty.
