I thought I heard during coverage for Long Beach that the Dallaras do not have adjustable rear differentials. Is this true?
If it is then no freakin' wonder Champ Car teams have trouble on ovals, the cars handle like sprint cars!

Not quite true.
As far as I recall, the Sprint cars have a LOCKED differential, which is about the same as a solid rear axle. A non adjustable rear diff means it is fixed in what ever setting is has, but it still allows the wheels to rotate at different rates. You just can't dial in different reactions to slip, or how much it allows rotation at different speeds, or how much pre-load it has to keep one wheel from slipping, etc.
I do find it a little odd, if true, however. Different ovals have different optimum diff settings. To lock them down to one settings does save money, I guess, but it does limit the performance.

I really don't know. I have never followed the series. I know F1 has lots of adjustments. The problem is, the IRL doesn't really advertise what they have. You can find out about their three rear wings and two front wings, but beyond that, tech details are just not out there. I think you have to join the series to find out.
I would guess that they do NOT have a sprint car type locked diff, as that would really be bad on pavement. You'd tear up the outside tire in a hurry.
