Does anyone know the track record for Sprint Cars at ORP? I've googled it and can't find it and it's not on the official Web site. Many thanks for your help!

I was just lookin at some past results from USAC Sprints at ORP since 1998 and the fastest lap was Jason McCord with a 20.016 in the Contos Car July 14, 2001.
I dont know if thats the track record or not but it seemed like all the quick qualifiers were at about 20.3-20.7 or so. Also, I noticed Tracy Hines was fast qualifier there like every race from 2000-2003.
It's wierd to see that most of the same cars are still out there today and the times have actaully dropped off a little bit in the last 10 years.

I love it too. I used to go every Thursday night during the summer back in '87-'89 or so to see midgets, sprints and silver crowns. I saw great drivers like Rich Vogler, Mack McClellan, Jeff Gordon, etc. battle it out every week.

The best place to find out statistical info for sprints, midgets and supers is here: http://www.openwheeltimes.com/
Just send him an e-mail...
Shawn - think the times have dropped off because of using a harder tire or some other rules change? Could be the age of the pavement too...

Ya, you're prolly right. I was thinking that the pavement was probably gettin a little older.

They used to have a sealer on the track in the early 90's then they repaved it. Just bring back the sealer and the speeds will go up.

IRP has been ground, sealed and due to harder tires [tire rule] the speed has dropped.

Not exactly what you are looking for, but seeing as I have the handout from The Night Before the 500 near by, I will give you the midget details.
