I went to the Glen for the first time in 1973 for the United States Grand Prix. It was incredible . Watkins Glen at the time was one of the most beautiful tracks I had been to, Road America being my mainstay the It didn't hurt that it was in one of the most scenic parts of the U.S. It was pure genius to build this venue and then establish it the way Mr. Artgetsinger did, he always paid prize and staring money on time which was a real rarity in those days and he paid bigger purses than most. I stopped going to the Glen in 1980 when they lost their F-1 date. Now it is unfortunately a shadow of its former self, ridiculous chicane, and shortened version, oh well

Sad announcement. Anyone who enjoys sportscar racing and/or road racing in the US has to be greatful for all he did. The transformation of roadracing onto dedicated road corses started at the Glen.

RIP Cameron and thank you for all you did for road racing in the US & especially Watkins Glen.

My dad took me (at age 6) to my first F-1 race at Watkins Glen in 1966, and I saw every F-1 race there until 1980. Also enjoyed sports cars (saw the epic 917 vs Ferrari battles), Can-Am, IMSA and the CART races 79-81. I returned in 2005 and enjoy the IRL events as they still use the long circuit.
The F-1 crowds in the 70's were as big as the nascar crowds of today, that was certainly the most magical time for road racing in the US.

Sad news. I did not really know who he was, but if Peter Argetsinger (Skip Barber instructor) is one of his eight children, then I would like to wish Pete and the rest of the family my condolences.
