I’m headed for the Indycar/ALMS weekend at St. Pete.  Having never been there, tell me where to go (keep it clean now), where to stay (if there are any rooms left), where and what to eat (seafood!!!).

Thanks!!!

Here is a map.

Stay out of the red area, especially at night.  Green areas indicate lots of shopping and restaurants, especially where Tyrone Blvd crosses 66th St. North. Every chain restaurant you can think of is here, Outback, Carraba’s, Macaroni Grill, etc.  There are hotels, mom and pop motels, restaurants and touristy stuff all along the beaches and it’s a nice drive along the gulf.  Far enough away from downtown that it won’t be packed with race fans.  Also, alot of good restaurants downtown but are expensive and will be crowded.  Purple is John’s Pass, a really cool restaurant named Scully’s overlooks the intercoastal, dolphins congregate there at dusk most nights, outside or inside dining.  Across the bridge is Gators which is more of a bar than restaurant, food not as good, but a band.  Farther north on Gulf Blvd is the Conch Republic, also a good restaurant for local fare. Pink square is St Pete Beach, also alot of touristy stuff, plenty of places to stay.  In Pinellas County, streets run north and south, avenues east and west.  As a general rule, when you leave the track, head either west or north.  Heading south gets you into a bad area in a few blocks, nothing to be afraid of, just nothing that you are going to want to see or do there, (I’m guessing).  High crime.  There are some restaurants north of downtown on 4th and 9th streets also, but nothing spectacular, McDonalds, Dennys and stuff like that.  Hope this helps, post questions if you have them.

Wow.. This is really great.. I was just surfing the net because I will be going to St.Petersburg next month and will be there for a couple of weeks for some business meetings and a deal that I need to close. Then after that, will stay there for another week since I will be seeing another client. Thanks for this, this will surely kill my time and will enjoy my one week stress free from work.
