AMA SBK: Advice to DMG: 2009 Manifesto

Why not bring the rules more in line with those of World SBK? This would give the US teams justification to run wildcards at the US rounds of the SBK series and give the riders some much needed international publicity. This would also cement the AMA series as a feeder series to World SBK. This doesn't even consider that the racing in World SBK is the best that has been seen in years and that there is regularly multiple manufacturers in the top five if not on the podium.

I agree with the spec tires though, I remember racing in the AMA and the frustration of knowing that I didnt have a chance of competing for a win no matter how good I was because I couldn't get the same tires as any of the 'top' teams. It's a shame that Dunlop essentially gets to determine who is going to compete in the races.

While some of your ideas have solid basis, relegating the 600 supersport class to a 'feeder' class will never fly with the four manufactures from Japan. This is the sales leader of their product, and any effort to keep the factory teams out will result in the factories taking a hike. Making room for the 1200cc twins will result in what is about to happen to World Superbike--the 'Ducati' cup series Kevin Dennis, chief tech inspector,CMRA--feeder club for world champions (Spencer,Schwantz,Polen,Haydens,James, Kocinisky,Spies,Hayes)
