Came across a great source of information on each of the circuits from the FIA in various pdf files. It is meant for the Press but is publicly available.

http://www.fia.com/australiagp/index.html

It currently is the information regarding the 2007 season. Based on the design of the site I think it will be updated as this 2008 season progresses. If I notice that it is or if I find a link for 2008 info I will update it here.

Especially for someone attending a race, for each race there is schedule info, info & history about each race, detailed maps of the circuits, maps of the surrounding areas, restaurant listings & descriptions, hotel listings, race statistics, driver statistics, and on and on... Click on the section labeled "National Press Office"

Also, there are pdf's regarding steward inquiries, race incidents, and race reports.

Check it out it is worth a look.

They actually had a lot of this info last year, but this is a nicer format... how did you find it? I can't find it on the FIA website, and I know what it is now... O_O

It was somewhat blind luck trying to find more info on how garages are allocated. I found a pdf file for the Turkey GP Press Kit doing a Google search but I couldn't figure out a way to back out. Then played around with addresses in the tool bar for the pdf by substituting guesses for 3 letter country abbreviations and found a couple more. Went to the FIA site main page but couldn't find any way to it through drop-down menus. I then went to the search feature on the site and typed in "press kit" and PRESTO!

I can't find anything for 2008, so I am hoping its not just a place where they dumped the 2007 info without any security so average folk like us can get to it now and they have something separate and secure for the Press for 2008. As the way the info is setup with the pdf's sort of dropped in mailboxes, makes me think that they will continue to use these sites for 2008. I think we will know for sure come Wednesday because that's the earliest day of the week that is on the first info for each race in 2007.

My guess is that they dump it there after each race weekend (perhaps after everything's scanned?). Nonetheless it's really cool, all of the penalty notification papers are there and such smile

They also have the guides available from 2004-2007 and can be useful when going back for reference. The scruteneering reports posted after each GP are the only place I have found to publish accurate information on which drivers are on event #1 or #2 with their engine.

Here is another entry point. http://www.fia.com/sport/Championships/F1/F1_Season_Guide/2008.html On this page you can also find the links to previous seasons.

The link was updated after the practice sessions. Every lap for every driver is listed for both pratice sessions.

See "Timimg" top left, then click on the "Lap times" PDF's.

They aren't updating the way to access this information the same way as in 2007, but I figured out how to get to it. For this weekend's Malaysia GP go here:

http://www.fia.com/malaysiagp/index.html

To access any race for 2008 as it becomes available (Wed. or Thurs. before a race), use the same format as the above address just substitute the country's name.

To access the information from all of 2007's races go here:

http://www.fia.com/brazilgp32156684/index.html

Again, I encourage anyone looking for a good source of information and stats to check out these sights. The best section is the Timing link where at the conclusion of an event you can find lap times for every lap of each driver, gap times for every lap of the race, fastest sector times, fastest speeds for every driver through each sector, and on and on... It's an F1 stat-junky's dream-come-true!
