I like shows that depict cars that perform in their chosen environment. If it's a Nascar, F1, SCCA, etc. track, fine. If it's the street, also fine. But can a low rider perform on the street? Or does it bottom out turning into McDonald's?
While it may look cool building a car that is so low it can't handle the day-to-day streets and highways is like building a car with inferior brakes.
Just my opinion.

I am definately not into the whole Low Rider scene, despite growing up in San Fernando, Van Nuys and Sylmar, yet even I know that is the original purpose of the hydraulic suspension. Ride around low, lift when necessary.

OK people, what does adding weight and accessories have to do with speed? This show is out of place on a motorsports channel. "Ridin' low and SLOW" says it all. Maybe racing series should reward last place with some sort of trophy
This show makes Pinks, Superbikes, and Texas Tard Tales seem like brilliant programming efforts...

I haven't seen the show but here's my opinion and 2 cents into this discussion.
I think the Speed TV program managers realized that they wanted to capture a segment that isn't being captured by SpeedTV and they see that as an opportunity. Tons of people in Urban areas are not into F1, Superbikes or even Nascar but they know of Low-riders, maybe Unique Whips and Nopi. New market for SpeedTV so more money for advertising.
Low riders are cool in the same type of way Car Crazy goes to check out an old chevy or Ford at a museum. It's got lots of stories to tell but if not done right it's down right boring. I tried watching that show where they fixed up a VW, some american car and a Skyline. Tuner challenge? WTF are you talking about? Totally lame and it drove me away from watching anything else that is produced on Speed. Tried watching Unique Whips but who cares about 28inch rims on a car or SUV that will never see 1 foot of track or off road? I could care less about an egotistic owner or bad work atmosphere, if I wanted to see and hear screaming, i'd be working late instead or watching OCC Chopper on discovery network. What I do enjoy is the people over at Spike with their repair/test em out shows where they fix and build things that actually teach people something new or entertain. I hate trucks but I watched Trucks and even enjoyed listening to a guy with a Mullet and remember a trucks name like Crazyhorse or wild horse. Even something like Shadetree mechanics would be easier to watch than Nopi and i liked imports. I don't need skanky booty shakers on the show or girls gone wild dropouts telling me what's coming up next. I object to mba school dropouts at Speed categorizing viewers and providing me with an import show with stupid lambo doors and skanky chicks with wet t-shirts and messed up teeth. Someone mentioned that they should stop showing only so cal low riders. I really think they need some diversity at Speed's programming office. They really need to stop showing their limited thinking abilities when it comes to programming. Don't copy other networks shows because it won't work. You've got to come up with better idea than the next guy.
As a car guy, I would pick watching a guy with a mullet put on some lift kit if it was informative even though I don't own a truck than watch some hottie read a prompter and ask dumb questions to a car dork who's too busy drooling over the girl and provides nothing of substance in the interview. I've got a remote, if i wanted to watch chicks, I can switch to skinamx or pay per view, if i wanted reality i've got discovery or CNN, if I want speed I used to have Speed. Brand Marketing... you are confusing your viewers and as a result you are losing them because they are not getting what they knew and liked. Some of these new shows are like the NEW COKE! from the late 80s or early 90s. New isn't always good or improved (ie this new forum). Take a page out of Porsche marketing book, make something good that people like and constantly improve it and you will have a great product 911.
There was a great marketing program back in the 80's and it should have won tons of awards because it can be applied to this case.
"WHERE'S THE BEEF?" In this case, where's the Speed? Where's the focus on cars? Not the drama on some guy trying to sandbag or race a limp car because that's what he'd agreed to do (Pinks). Inform us and we will just about watch anything with cars and speed. Insult us and we will jump ship, just like most of the people on the Speed forums (search the forum and you'll see post asking about where all the usual posters are).
I'm an F1 guy and believe me i've found the other forums and even tried to get ITV signal from Europe to watch the races on. I'd say the head gasket on SpeedTV is blown and the network is heading downhill with only Nascar as momentum carrying the network. Ditch shows like Supercars exposed and Tommy Kendal's racing series aka Pontiac Solstice's 30 min commercial and bring back shows like F1 decade and produce shows that will teach/show us something new and exciting.

I'll have to eat my words now that I watched another episode of Supercars and it was better than when it first started and seems to be improving.
Saw bit of Tony Kaanan's interview and to see him talking about the Mercedes Black series with love just made me sick of what the OWS in the US has turned into. Here's a guy in all Honda/7-11 gear and he is talking about his daily driver with so much love it makes me sick thinking about the Indy series. I hope Indy gets manufactures like Mercedes, Chevy, and Toyota back to Indy and maybe even bring in BMW, Nissan (renault) into the mix. So good to see Tony being honest and not pushing a Honda product or stopping at 7-11 for a slurpee.
I could have done without the Biturbo being crushed.. it added no content for me. They could have shown more of driving in different areas in the Maserati Spyder instead of the bi-turbo.

It it the Speed Channel not the low and slow channel. I want to see sports coverage of racing. It is what I pay for in this channel and it is what I expect to see. What happenned to live racing coverage! They are airing this bummer show on Saturday instead of AMA Supercross. Anyone else have a problem with this?
