Yo!

Ricky’s Hosts F1 Opener and benefit for Oakland Firefighters

Saturday night March 15th come join your fellow Formula One race fans at Ricky’s in San Leandro to watch the opening race of the 2008 Championship. The night will feature a silent auction to benefit the Oakland Firefighters Random Acts of Kindness program and starts at 7pm with live music from The HOO!

The silent auction will include High Performance Driving Experience gift certificates from the National Auto Sport Association (NASA), rare F1 photos from award winning international photographers, and a very hard to get “Grand Prix Guide.” These guides are the first thing that journalists get at the first race. They get one a year and must have F1 press accreditation to receive a copy. We will auction two of them. The guide contains thousands of F1 facts at your finger tips. The whole history of F1 is in this book and every year it gets revised. You might never get another chance to get one of these. A VERY RARE ITEM FOR THE PUBLIC!

The big event takes place 7pm Saturday March 15th at Ricky’s in San Leandro CA. Ricky’s was voted by Sports Illustrated as the #2 Sports Bar in the country. The race will be the featured event that night so many of the 60+ tv’s including the giant projector screen will be showing the Melbourne F1 race live on Speed TV. No cover charge for the race, and all ages are welcome. The bigger your group the earlier you should show up! Free wifi will be available for fans that want to follow the race on their laptops.

AOL City Guide “… this is arguably the Bay’s best sports bar. Family-run since 1946, this place has the sports bar experience down pat. Even rabid fans get their fill with five giant screens, 10 satellite dishes and a whopping 65 televisions spread through several rooms. Rest assured that you’ll be able to watch whatever you want, whatever your sport of choice. You can while away some more hours at the pool tables and dartboards, graze on snacks of the wings-and-nachos variety or sit down for a full meal. Another plus: Kids are welcome at Ricky’s.”

About Oakland Firefighters Random Acts Of Kindness http://www.ofrandomacts.org/index.shtml

Oakland Firefighters Random Acts Of Kindness video http://www.ofrandomacts.org/video.shtml

This charity program has been created by dedicated firefighters from the City of Oakland, California, metro fire department who truly believe that we can make a difference in our community. As we respond into the homes of citizens we can observe up close the personal situations where people truly need a hand to live and succeed. We seek to plant positive seeds in our districts to the benefit of the whole community. We are a registered 501(c)(3) tax exempt charity, with a simple aim to help fellow firefighters give something extra back to the communities they live in and care for.

About The HOO http://www.thehoo.us/index.cfm

The HOO are long time veterans of the Bay Area music scene. Over the years, the members have played in several different groups notably The Rubinoos, Earthquake, Psycotic Pineapple, Big Bang Beat, Mersey Beach, and Snakefinger. They are big time fans of Pete Townshend, John Entwistle, Keith Moon, and Roger Daltrey collectively known to fans worldwide as the Who (naturally!). The HOO do their best to nail the spirit and the energy of the Who in their 1960s - early 70s prime. For several years now, they have played concerts building a hardcore following of Who fans. As the HOO Al, Steve, and John are having the time of their lives playing the music of the Who.
