Wait just a minute...Tony is to blame.
When he wanted a “voice” in open wheel racing the team owners of CART said fine, do like we do, field a team, and you have your vote.
Tony being Tony pouted like an 8 year old and took his ball (racetrack) and went home. Is THAT the American way?
The CART guys ran it into the ground after that so it’s hard to have any sympathy for them.
The problem for all of us now is that this thing is so far off the landscape I seriously doubt there is enough of anything left to restore open wheel to prominence.
And also...he didn’t tell Bernie and F1 to stick it....Bernie took his circus and went home too. Those two clowns deserve each other.

I personally like the panoz chassis; The Dallara has a terrible looking front nose. As far as the engines go Honda makes better engines, but we’ll miss the sound from the turbo charged engines.

not much to celibrate, really, how may teams will be able to find a sponsor to run the areas the irl covers, don’t forget this is also marketing. 2 ego drive a-holes have managed to f&%$ up a great racing series. and lets not forget about formula atlantic. a series that was looking at 32 cars on the grid for long beach. also 2 new venues for 2008 one being 3 rivers in canada. a return to one of the most historic tracks for atlantic cars. hope another sanctiong body will pick up the atlantics. perhaps alms… you better believe that the ips cars will be promoted before the ladder cars from ccws… wonder what kind of taste this will leave in the european promoters mouths with the cancellation of all the overseas rounds ?? ugly american’s?? i can hear it now. gee thanks kevin and tony. i think kevin will need body guard and a bullet proof vest. there was no reason that the plans for this couldn’t have been announced for the target date of 2009.

I won’t believe it until it is formally announced. We’ve all been down this road before.

This will be a work in progress. No one will watch the one mile ovals, but Surfer’s Paradise will be a blast to see if the Australian Super V8 are faster than TG’s taxis. ALMS will take the crown as the premier road racing series, but adding street races like Toronto and getting rid of ..insert characterless oval here.. in future years will be the difference between success and 14 cars running around in months other than May.
It will be Champ Car loyalists vs. IRL at Long Beach....go PT!
