Some people on here just kill me with their criticism of Tony George.  Let’s see Tony was a moron for not letting the Rahals, Penskes, Newman/Hasses of the racing world tell him what to do but Tony was praised for telling Formula One to take a hike. Tony and his family have tens of millions of dollars invested and yet he should let others tell him how to run the business and establish the rules. That never sounded like the American Way to me!

Yes, it is a joke that the length of the “split” is all on TG!!!  Ok, he didn’t try to buy the “ass"-ets of CART, he hasn’t offered over and over, only to be told that he needs to GIVE “them” meeelions of dollars, ect ect.  It is a joke, yest he seperated, but he has been the ONLY one trying to make it right.  so shut it up peeps.

Sure!  Trying to make it right by trying to force a liquidation & buy only the assets up cheap in 2004.  Trying to make it right by trying to force bankruptcy this year.  Trying to make it right by demanding that he run the unified series his way on his tracks with his lousy equipment.  He needs to support the incoming teams as they are far behind the learning curve of the existing teams; he sure will be the benefactor with the added fan boost coming with the new teams as well as not having to compete with a parallel series.
Hopefully the fans support the new series, but also raise their voices and let TG know what they want and expect to see: A better chassis and turbo on road races; a variety of venues and track styles; competition between manufacturers; dynamic leadership and promotion of events; interesting support series added to the racecards; ______________(add your own suggestion here)______________.

Thank god this is finally fixed! All of us who love open wheel racing support this effort 100 percent. Maybe we will
see it back to where it was 15 years ago, it will take time
but it can happen. Can’t wait for May in Indy.

While I am glad to hear that the series may become unified, I am tired of reading “CHAMP CAR AND IRL BACK TOGETHER............... maybe.  After hours and hours of harrassing people Miller has successfully found out nothing definitive and has decided to write another article on it”

He is quickly becoming the TMZ of the racing world.

When it happens they will announce it, why does anyone really need to know before that?  It isn’t like they are going to sneak out to the grid with new cars and owners and catch everyone off guard.

You know, I thought I’d be happy as hell when this day finally came, but my happiness is tempered by thoughts of what was lost and what might have been. This split was so senseless in the first place and after 12+ years what are we left with? 18 races nobody cares about and 1 thats a shadow of its former self. If this had happened 2 or 3 years ago, we could all be looking forward to Allmendinger, Carpentier, Franchitti and Hornish racing at Indy during the month of May. Instead we get to watch them pilot taxi cabs in corporate America’s big long commercial occasionally interrupted by racing Sprint Cup Series. I guess if there is anything positive to take out of this better late then never reunification, it would be that at least there is a future for open-wheel racing in America. And thats more then could be said during the last 12+ years.

Its about time! As a fan of open wheel racing and a Champ Car series fan I hope this is a true and equal merger. I mean, if its 16 round and round races with 3 road circuits, then why bother?

It’s about time! A lot of people don’t like Tony but I’m sure he knew this would eventually happen. He just didn’t think it would take 12 years. With Nascar becoming more of an advertising avenue than a sport, I can’t wait for the racing to begin!

It is about time!  I am so glad that this is finally happening and hope that it will do as much for the sport as everyone is predicting!  I have been an open wheel racing fan since I was 6 and will never get tired of sitting at the Indy 500 watching the field of 33 cars coming around the first turn on the first lap!  It is incredible!

Way to go Tony George, Gerry Forsythe and Kevin Kalkhoven for pulling this together here is a huge THANK YOU from all of the fans!
