Hey SPEED, what's up with Jimmy holding the cigar on-camera during the end of NASCAR Victory Lane tonight? Real nice.

He has smoked Cigars for as long as my family has known him (about 15 years), and I see nothing wrong with that. He has been seen many times on Camera with Cigars as have many other current/former drivers.

Now you will probaly come on here and say "That is teaching kids its ok to smoke".. Well it is OK to smoke, it is the persons prerogative to smoke, and if you are a parent and you don't want your kids to smoke, then BE A PARENT and teach them instead of letting the TV raise them because you are too lazy.

Well - there's our answer. Apparently that is what they're looking for because they sure found it in Jimmy and Kenny! I think they're targeting the younger generation about the age of my son who is 22. He would find them amusing except he never watches Nascar stuff.

Yes, he was a great driver...I know most of the NASCAR fans (ie, so called race fans) think that racing stops once you hit the truck series...but real racing takes place with real racers ever week at your local short track...Jimmy Spencer was one of the best asphalt modified/NASCAR modified racers to ever get behind the wheel. His duels with Richie Evans were legendary...and for you that do not know, there isnt a driver in NASCRAPS "big 3" that could even come close to Evans!

Dang, I would be willing to bet that 99% of the drivers on the current roster of the "big 3" series would not have survived back then...(late 1970's early 1980's)...they would have ran back home to their moms crying! Notice I left 1%...Stewart, Schrader, Reuterman (spelling?), Blaney and maybe a couple more that I can not think of could handle it...pretty boys like Earnhardt, Jr...Johnson, Gordon and such...well, they would never have made it out of the last chance race...that is if they werent to busy crying to drive.

Well said. It's amazing that so many "so called fans" don't know how good the modified, and yes, short track late model drivers were. Spencer, Evans, Bodine, Bouchard, and many others were every bit as talented as the Grand National drivers. Ask a Bobby Allison, Mark Martin, Waltrip, or many other veteran drivers if Trickle, Howe, Senneker, Eddy, Phillips, etc, were good enough to move "up" to the so called top.

Most of those drivers were making a better living on the short tracks and had no urge to "move up."

Jimmy Spencer was a great modified driver but typical of a lot of guys, he never got to drive good equipment. Look at Michael Waltrip. He was, and still is, a hack but Earnhardt put him in the 15 car and though he won a couple of plate races, he still couldn't do crap with top equipment. But
he thinks his poop doesn't stink because of it.

Jimmy Spencer used to be a great personality. Outspoken and critical of the glamour boys. Now he's just another shill for na$car. Kenny Wallace is a moron too. Poor Dave Roberts. The only one with a brain.

WOW! Right on, on every point! I enjoyed Jimmy "Mr. Excitement" in a car, sure is a dud behind the mike. I imagine it is hard to talk with your head up NASCAR's butt. As for Kenny Wallace, is it not amazing what having a real race car driver for a brother can do for your career? Does Rusty pay the TV networks to let Kenny on the air? I can not believe the networks pay him!

i take his commentary with a grain of salt
and doesnt bother me that much

Now I know the difference between a RACER and a FAN(NATIC). First, Even though I do not care much for Jeff Gordon because of the way he went "HOLLYWOOD" and the way he treated the people that helped him on his way up, Jeff is a very accomplished racer. He is a sight to see in a sprint car or a dirt car.

Jimmy Spencer and Kenny Wallace bring a bunch of knowledge to the shows. Both ARE REAL RACERS and are very informative.

If you need perfect diction and enunciation for your sensitive ears, watch the debating society on PBS. OR, you could keep your mouth shut and learn something about racing so the people around you would not think, WHAT A RICHARD CRANIUM ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Have a nice grin day

I agree with the original poster, he almost sounds like when he's talking that someone is talking in his ear and he forgets what he's talking about. He almost never finishes in the same subject he started and even if he does he makes little sense. He might be a good guy to have a beer with, but I think he is a weak link for "Race Day" and "Victory Lane".

He is probly being distracted by that idiotic spontaneous laughter that issues from the mouth of Wallace non stop.

I really like Spence, he has a great attitude and I especially like that he punched "The Punk" Kurt Busch in his car several years ago.

Actually, you're probably right. Kenny's maniac laughter probably interrupts his thought processes. Oh well, both of them are laughing all the way to the bank. lol
