It does, doesn't it. Looks can be deceiving and, in this case, they are.

Okay, how about some hints. I'm guessing Pontiac concept of some sort.

Ok, additional hint time... Count the pennies needed to create Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weil's opera. From there, follow the highwayman's pop culture career to his fame on the aforementioned mixing board. If all goes well, you should land in the gateway to the west with the answer to this dashboard.

I don't have a clue where he is going with this. Did Elvis own this car?

Not Elvis, but of that era and industry. It was a custom built car for a personality who also displayed similarly pearly whites. Don't search for the highwayman until you find out his given name from the Bertolt opera. Be careful, as he always carries a concealed knife.
Or maybe I'm just being too circumspect. Seriously, I'm trying to lay a nice literary path without giving it all away. If it survives till the morning, I'll be more direct because it is, after all, supposed to be fun.

Yes!
It was the Threepenny Opera (count the pennies) of Bertolt Brecht that brought Macheath to the fame of Bobby Darin. Though Macheath, or Mack the Knife, provided fame for many a singer, it became the signature song of Bobby Darin. This dashboard was from the car created for Bobby that eventually wound up in the St. Louis (Gateway) museum of transportation.
