There was a scary incident in Buffalo/Florida game tonight. Richard Zednik was inadvertently cut on his neck by teammate Olli Jokinen. Zednik was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

It was kind of ironic that this happened in Buffalo because a similar incident happened to Clint Malarchuk years ago.

My thought are with Zednik. Looking at the picture in the article and the horrified faces of the audience kinda magnifies it. :(

At least he is in stable condition. smile

Now, I just want to comment on the Ducks-Wings game today:

1. Yay, Ducks win.

2. That was the WORSE officiating I have EVER seen in my short time as a hockey fan. I love it that the Ducks won, but I feel that the Wings were robbed. NASCAR does an better job than the NHL, it seems.

3. In conclusion, this will be a silent victory from me. I can tell you that the rivalry between the two teams will only get hotter after this. It's probably a guarantee that any game featuring the Ducks and Wings playing against each other is a sure fire knockout.

Looks like the same person looking over Malarchuk watched over Zednik last night. Zednik is in stable condition after having surgery to repair the damage. Very, very fortunate to get prompt help immediately after the injury.

Get well, Zednik smile

The quick actions of both trainers and medical personnel saved Zednik's life and doctors said he was lucky that the cut did not hit the jugular vein. He's out of the ICU ward in good condition. Doctors had to give him five units of blood because of the large volume of blood being loss.

My Rangers is still inconsistent with wins and losses being traded. Hopefully, they'll start a great run to the playoffs.

It also helped Zednik that he immediately skated towards the bench, saving him precious seconds rather than laying on the ice.

Malarchuk, the first player that nearly bled to death on TV in hockey, gave an interview not long after Zednik's injury. Very revealing.

ESPN interview with Malarchuk

Zednik joined a very small, and probably unfortunate, group of players who had gruesome neck injuries. Hope that group won't grow again.

It sounds like Forsberg isn't returning to the NHL this year.

I have no dog in the Colorado/Detroit game (Pittsburgh Penguins fan), but I love to watch them play. They absolutly hate each other. Entertaining game tonight. I assume Detroit won. It was 4-0 when I left for work. Good game, entertaining fights.

cool grin

Quenneville and Babcock were jawing at each other from their benches at the end of the game. Good stuff.
