Penske_ALMS: Heck yeah. Now let's just get ourselves a win now!

Round 10 of the ITTAWSC2 series got off at Surfers Paradise, with the machines this time around being early 90s Formula 1 machines. The sound of 30 screaming 3.5-liter V8s and V10s rattled the windows of the stylish hi-rise street circuit, known best for Indycar duels and typhoons and V8 Supercar crash fests. The massive crowd of over 135,000 lined every inch of the track and all kinda of balconies to watch.

After a fantastic show of active-suspended dominance, the Williams cars of Formulaefan, Rockstar4199 and Ksaulie occupied the first three positions on the grid, with Breaker and Markm55543 occupying the rest of the top 5 in their Benetton-Fords.

The race launched from a standing start, and those who did not take the advice of having earplugs regretted it within seconds of the lights going out. Everyone made it through the first lap, which is a feat in itself at Surfers Paradise. The bumpy track and hot conditions of Surfers did not help the active suspended cars and hydraulic trouble began to come quickly for some of them. DigIt's Mclaren-Honda was the first retirement on lap four as the car sure enough lost a hydraulic line in the rear suspension poured the fluid onto the hot exhaust, with fiery results. He got it off the track though, and the race stayed green.

Even by that early point, it was becoming clear that the high-revving Renaults, Ferraris and Hondas were being outclassed by the torquier Ford and Peugeot powerplants, which wasn't hurting many's chances. Breaker soon passed Ksaulie and Rockstar4199, but Formulaefan was more tenacious and wasn't budging an inch. Markm was also soon in a battle with Rockstar4199.

Lap 10 was the first caution, as Penske14 tried a grossly optimistic move on Uzi4U. Uzi saw it and backed off, but Penske flew over the curbs and the car went left into the wall, hard. The safety car came out to clean up the mess, which allowed some to pit. Breaker and Markm did so, topping up on gas. LittleAlGuy, AntiRover and Penske_ALMS also followed the Bennettons in, putting them way back in the field.

Green flew again on lap 15, and free of interference, the Williams cars put the hammer down, with Lochtaer and the Ferraris and Mmi16 and Speeddemon787 struggling to keep up.

In the meantime, the cars that pitted on their new tires cut through the backmarkers like a hot knife through butter. Their pushing just about caused AntiRover's undoing though, as he narrowly missed Dobermann's Lotus-Honda as she went to pass Headsfirst4halos. Local spectators said they'd never seen a three-wide pass at Surfers before......

Breaker had just pulled into the top 15 when the leaders began pitting. The leading FW14s stayed out longest, finally pitting on laps 24-26. They all took full loads of gas and went for it, while the cars that pitted earlier stayed out and inheirited ther lead. Markm55543 powered past his teammate a lap after they took the top positions, but Breaker was not intent on letting his teammate beat him.

On lap 34, the second FCY of the day came out. Armco's Honda engine cried enough on the stretch coming to View Avenue, and the engine belched a massive amount of oil onto the track. Speedy lost it big time on the oil and hammered the tire barriers at almost 130 miles an hour, turning his McLaren into carbon-fiber pieces. He was alright, but it was a huge mess.

The worked to the benefit of Breaker and the other cars out of sequence. They pitted and topped the tanks right to the brim, and some of the other cars - including Indyfan2, Ksaulie and Bolts - also went out of sequence, sacrificing track position in the hope that they wouldn't need to stop again. Rockstar4199 took the lead and lead the restart, but his car jumped out of gear coming off of Qantas Corner, causing him to pull it over. Formulaefan took the lead and stood on it, hoping that she could gain enough time on a light fuel load to be able to make a splash and dash late in the race.

The Benetton crews were unsure of being able to make it on fuel and told both Breaker and Markm to ease off or they'd need to make a splash and dash. Ksaulie knew he would need be iffy to make it, but Bolts, LittleAlGuy and Indyfan2 however figured they'd make it and kept on pushing.

Sure enough, Formulaefan grew her lead to almost 20 seconds by lap 52, but she had to pit. Bolts and LittleAlGuy were close enough to capitalize, and roared into the lead. Formulaefan however was busted speeding out of the pits, blowing her chance of a great result.

By this point, the crews out of sequence - Bolts, LittleAlGuy, Indyfan2, Markm55543, Breaker, Ksaulie, Penske_ALMS and AntiRover - all had enough to finish and gave it all they had. Breaker and Markm figured they could get by the Jordans of Indyfan2 and Bolts, and got a rude surprise when then found that the two of them were merciless blockers.

Bolts held on despite numerous pass attempts by LittleAlGuy to claim the win, with Indyfan2 holding on to finish third. Breaker was unable to get pass his teammate and finished fifth, with AntiRover leading Ksaulie and Formulaefan over the line. Penske_ALMS and Pickle rounded out the top 10.

Penske_ALMS: Oops, sorry. Singing to myself again. Squeezing all I can out of this car.

CC: Well we're good to go on fuel and tires are wearing good, so go for it.

Penske_ALMS: Top 5 can be doable. Podium maybe. Car is lapping good--- Whoa!! Someone just plowed straight on into the wall! Medics better get there quick!

Rockstar4199: Sorry guys, guess its just one of those racin' deals...

CC: well, we showed 'em we can run up front, we'll get 'em next time.

LittleAlguy: Gah, I thought I had Bolts there. His car was wider than a Sherman tank there.

CC: Don't worry, we'll talk to the stewards.

LittleAlguy: Nice strategy though. We'll get them next time.

Round 11 at the Pocono International Raceway for the Cart race cars from 1991-1994. Indyfan2 will commentate qualifying and the race. The Pocono 550K will be a daunting task for all the drivers.

ITTAWSC2 Championship As It Stands after Surfers Paradise for F1 Race


Lets Review here...
Breaker's 5th place finish was good but it is still continuing to fizzle as Indyfan2 yet again finished another high position reducing Breaker's points score from 10 to just 6 points. Formulaefan after leading some hot laps made a serious error costing her to keep up with Teammate Indyfan2 and is now 17pts deeper this may jeopardize Formulaefan's chances to defend her title. Meanwhile Speeddemon787 and Lochtaer aren't doing well. LittleAlguy has a big smile on his face jumping the gun to number 6 in the championship table. AntiRover had moved up a bit along with Bolts (even though winning the 2nd time this ITTAWSC2 Season).

DigIt who failed to score yet again for 2 consecutive races and Rookie of the origninal ITTAWSC2 season is out of the scoring range as Sarasgd may take 12th of the Championship table.

Now here's something special, Penske_ALMS has unoffcially won the ITTAWSC2 Rookie of the year with a purse of $7,500,000.00. He'll be looking forward to the Indycars at Pocono and so does the rest of the field.

Signature to Penske_ALMS: The Underdog is now ITTAWSC2's Rookie of the Season.
