What is the point of Asking the question if you are going to limit what we can respond with?
How many people are killed each year by Drunk Driving? As long as Bud, Coor's Light, Miller Light, Jack Daniels, and Crown Royal are on cars, I think that Marlboro,Players, Kool, and Winston should be allowed to continue with sponsorship of the teams/series.[/quote:de315ca7f9]
NHTSA estimates that 17,013 people died in 2003 in DUI collisions
vs. 440,000 USA citizens per year killed by Tobacco.

So because Tobacco has about a 28 to 1 Ratio of people killed compared to Alcohol, Alcohol can be on my car, but Tobacco can't? How about you find the families of those killed in DUI accidents what they think?
Now, how about you answer the other question?

It is Prohibited by US and Canadian and European Union law for a Tobacco Company to Sponsor and Adverstise any and all Sports teams and racing teams.
Me or you can have a drink of beer and not be addicted but have a few cigarettes and you are addicted. Cigarettes are a carcinogen delivery system and is unsafe at ANY amount.
while wine and alcohol in moderation is sometimes good for you. And the vast majority of people who consume alcohol are resposible. while Cigarettes are not only dangerous to the users health but that of their family and friends thru 2nd hand smoke.
Every year Tobacco Smoking kills as many people in the usa ,as live in these cities : Atlanta, Omaha, Long Beach, Fresno, Sacramento, Kansas City, and Cleveland. Take one of those cties of the map each year. thats the impact smoking has.

Here's some food for thought - aren't all the 'tobacco', Alcohol, pharmaceutical and any other major industry deaths in the long run caused by corporate greed?
And yet you still want those as sponsors...

What is the point of Asking the question if you are going to limit what we can respond with?
How many people are killed each year by Drunk Driving? As long as Bud, Coor's Light, Miller Light, Jack Daniels, and Crown Royal are on cars, I think that Marlboro,Players, Kool, and Winston should be allowed to continue with sponsorship of the teams/series.[/quote:b9cd0ce01f]
NHTSA estimates that 17,013 people died in 2003 in DUI collisions
vs. 440,000 USA citizens per year killed by Tobacco.[/quote:b9cd0ce01f] Do the numbers really matter? What Antirover is trying to say is it that booze companies get away with it and smokes can't. They both kill everyone knows the warnings and what can happen. But people still do it. It was their choice and thier decision and they are responsible for their actions. No one forces anyone to suck on a cancer stick. No one is forced to drink either. When are people going to be held accountable for their actions? People die in car accidents every year. Does that mean auto manufacturers aren't going to be allowed to sponsor race teams? People die from obesity and heart attacks every year. Does that mean food companies can't sponsor cars? People are in charge of their own lives if they so choose to use a product that's bad for them oh well that's on them. It was their choice. But in my opinion just because a product is bad for your health ( and it's stated on the package) doesn't mean it shouldn't be able to promote it's product. And letting booze companies promote their product and tobacco companies not being allowed to is a bit hypocritical.

But I don't think tobacco should be black balled from advertising and promoting their product. The argument is it kills people. So does fast food and, alcohol. All three take a while but where is the out cry for the other two? All three of those things can kill you it just depnds how much how long and what context you look at. People are going to do what they want to do regardless of the consequences. Life is about choices. Just doesn't seem fair to handicap someone's business like that. I wonder if it would make people happier if it said Phillip Morris on the car rather than Marlboro. However it does suck being unable to get a exact replica Penkse die cast.[/quote:a0fe060654]
i  n late 2005, Penske Racing announced primary sponsor Marlboro, which had been a sponsor with Penske Racing since 1990, and primary sponsor of all Penske open-wheel racing cars since 1991, was leaving because of tobacco legislation.
Cigarettes kill 500,000 in USA every year.
 :x
case closed ! It was Many Many years past due to see North America ban Tobacco Advertising in Motorpsorts.
Any way  team Penske has the "Subliminal" Red & White paint Scheme.( I'm sure that still helps sell a few packs of cancer sticks) Although they should change 1 car to a yellow Kodak car and the other to a Mobil 1 car.
The Sposnors that Indy Car Series need is Sponsors that are SAFE and Respectable companies and products.[/quote:a0fe060654]
Okay, hop off the horse there fella. Drunk driving kills every day and we don't hear the outcry for the booze companies.
