Just a stupid ? With NOS when the racer says 100,200,250shot. What does that relate to?

Not a stupid question at all. I'll give a simple answer a shot.

What it means is that they are adding a measured amount of nitrous oxide during the run that will increase their estimated horsepower by that amount--a "100 shot" would add approximately 100 horsepower, etc. So in an instance where a driver is reporting that his engine produces 500 horsepower and they're spraying a 100 shot of nitrous, the estimated horsepower would increase to 600 horsepower. If they say they have a 500 horsepower motor and are spraying two systems--one a 150 and a second one that's a 300--it all adds together for an estimated horsepower total of 950.

Racers who don't use nitrous may consider nitrous to be "cheap horsepower" or at best a shortcut. If you ask them whether they use nitrous, they'll likely give you either an annoyed look or a proud look and tell you that it's either "all motor" or "all throttle" (as in "all throttle, no bottle").

NOS actually stands for "Nitrous Oxide Systems", one brand of system on the market, but not the only one. Just an observation, when it comes to the nitrous oxide itself, the racers that I've always been around refer to it as "nitrous" or maybe "smack" or "juice", but never "NOS" like in a movie or two. (Though there are many subgroups in drag racing, and some of them may call the nitrous itself "NOS", but I've not heard it called it by racers that I know.)

You're entitled to your opinion. A lot of us love the show.

just my opinion, but i think it would be cool if you could link up with the mobile phone companies, and hold contest during each new airing of the show, where people could text in their estimated pass times for a prize, it could help people get into the shows, and be waiting on the next New show that is upcoming, HELL YEAH!!

Dumbest show ever!! What happened to all the racing on speed?
There are so many good weekly racing series in the USA that speed should cover but NO!!! we get DUMB shows like this!!
