Technically da Matta leads! Might be an interesting battle with Pruett coming up.

Well, poo. Shorty got gobbled-up on the restart. Looking like a nice fight for the win coming up in the last half-hour, though.

Okay. They DO give penalties, as they were given out today. Explain how the 01 has not recieved a single stop and go despite hitting at least two cars a week.

Because saying the words "hello to my family at home" has some kind of hypnotic affect with the officials??

Or is it because all the commentators keep reminding us of how much of a "legend", "clean racer" and all around nice guy Scott is.

I wasn't a huge fan of rolex coming into this weekend, but after watching this and the ALMS race, the rolex's do have a bit more excitement. I'd like less FCYs, but I guess you can't do much about that.
Is the corkscrew really a good place to pass? I mean, I'm not complaining, it's fun to watch, but I think I saw more cars go off there than cars that actually passed clean!

I got to see a good amount of the coverage. Wow. What a crazy race! And for the record, the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca is a great place to pass. After all, that one section is responsible for success and fast laps... or failure and slow laps. It can be great for passing! Just ask Alessandro (Alex) Zanardi in 1996 (now a banned move).
I was saddened to see the leading RX-8 give up the lead to those ugly-as-sin Pontiac G6 GXP.R's. I think that's now 4-in-a-row for GTO.R replacement.
My favorite Rolex team is Suntrst Racing, as I've grown a great deal of respect for them. They have, however, fallen on some hard times. Hope they can get it together. Being a native of Texas, I cheer on Texas teams. And it wasn't until someone on another message board told me that the Gainsco team is based in Dallas. The home team for me would be Krohn Racing (as far as the Rolex Sportscar Series goes. We have Risi Competizione for the ALMS). I just pull for some of the Texas teams and drivers. It was a crazy race! People say that the Rolex Sportscar Series is NASCAR's answer to sportscar racing. If you want to back that up about the eight full-course cautions, then you may just be right. I'm not really a Rolex guy myself (one of my top Myspace friends is the ALMS), but I do check out the races because I'm a fan of almost all things racing. Congratulations to all the winners overall and in class.

I really enjoyed the race as well. After VIR I was talking about good the SAMAX team had become.
Again, they were quick this weekend and I'm excited for them to get their first win. It was good
to see the 91 at the front, too. They have become pretty consistent. I'd like to see the AIM #61
car win a race this season, they always seem so close but can't close the deal - like Brumos.
I guess we won't see TRDFANTASY here this week to spread the propaganda...
I also enjoyed the ALMS Utah race. The outer loop was more enjoyable to watch and provided good racing.
de Ferran's new team did a fantastic job. Still, IMO, the GT racing is the strength of ALMS.
