theres a different angle of the danica/chuck buckman pit collision on youtube-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpTSbsQksb8

this angle clearly shows chuck walk away from the pit wall into the middle of the pits directly into danica path. its clear from this that danica woudnt have seen him as he did indeed suddenly step out infront of her.

i didnt think it was her fault before but this new angle has convinced me even more that the collision wasnot danica fault.

I think the other angle showed he was obscured by the crew member working on the other car. In any case it was an unfortunate accident.

Actually, this makes the case against the "It's Danica's fault" argument even stronger.

The video that was shown on ESPN only shows the collision, but not what was going on before hand. The first video makes it seem like Chuck was just standing there. In the video RaceFan posted, you can clearly see him walking, not standing, in the pit box and it clearly shows him walking from the wall out to pit road, meaning that if Danica saw him, it was less than a second before she hit him.

What fascinates me is the people around him. I saw maybe one person rush to his aid right away, the rest just stood there and watched. I took psychology so I know about the whole deal about a person is less likely to help if others are around, but come on people.

The guy just wasn't paying attention it's as simple as that. He should have been walking on the other side of the wall. Too many people in the pits with out safety gear is a major lapse by the IRL.

They were probably stunned.

OT--A long, long time ago, I was at The Milwaukee Mile for a USAC stock car race. They were going for the start of the race. There was this man with a clipboard on the track at the entrance to the pits. He was on the track by about 5 or 6 feet. All the cars are coming to the start-finish line for the start of the race. This man, on the track, has his back to the traffic. From one of the last few cars in the field comes this car spinning toward the inner wall. The car hits this man, he must have flew about 15 feet high in the air. While in the air, he made what looked like a cartwheel. Luckily, he only suffered two broken legs. No. 1 rule in racing when on the track, "Never turn your back on the cars on the track."

I'm thinking that no matter if all of us can agree on whose fault it was that this latest accident happened, I think we call all agree with the Number 1 rule.

..she cut in way to early...

I'll remember to count the number of times this season that a driver, when entering or exiting his or her pit stall, passes through someone else's pit stall. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the number is going to be somewhere in the hundreds. How many races are left? I'm sure I can count the number of times right now.

In that case, the number has just jumped to well over a thousand, and that's with 12 races (including Indy), all qualifying runs and practices.

But, I'll keep doing my work because I know that will shut up all the people out there that (and yes, I'm going to use the word so many people like) hate Danica so much that the best they can come up with is "she cut in way too early." Maybe hate is too strong of a word. Maybe dislike?

By the way, what is the latest on Chuck? I know he was released from the hospital, but hadn't heard anything after that.

she cut in way to early

actually she didnt.

go watch pit stops from other races, including indy 500 stops and you will see that everyone turns into the pit box barely missing the right-front of a car in the box behind her turning into her box that tight & using part of marcos pit box is nothing new and is something they all do.

you can see from this vid from indy last year that everyone is taking just as tight a turn in to there box as danica did last week-

LOL

Actually, that would have been funny. How many of us haven't thrown a joke around about how badly women drive? Although, from what I hear, I don't think I'd want to be her passenger on the interstate. I've heard her say that she's picked up a few tickets in her day.

EDIT: By the way, I've heard it from her, not hearsay. Apparently she isn't too shy to admit it, but I've never met a racecar driver who wouldn't be. Turns out that's where some of the best racers are born.
