Will Nascar ever take wing off CoT?

Well, I've gotten used to the CoT and actually kinda like it. However, I still can't stand the wings on the cars. They stick out like a sore thumb and still look very weird on a stock car.

I like what Dale Jarett said in his Wind Tunnel interview. He said that the wings should go off because they do not fit our style of racing. The cars (for the most part) have always ran spoilers.

Wings on stock cars just look weird and in my opinion make the cars appear cheap. I'd say the wings are part of the reason too for the increased aero push with the car.

If Nascar would ditch the wings then I would actually like the CoT better than the old car.

I don't know why to remove the wing. The races so far this year have been pretty good. Don't mess with something that is working.

I love it ... it helps the look of the car, the handling of it, and will aid in looking out the back on road courses... and does nobody remember the Dodge SuperBird with the wing WAY UP in the airstream back in the '70's!?!

Plymouth Superbird

Dodge's winged car was the Charger Daytona

Those things were WAY ahead of their time. Dominated the plate tracks.

i heard some "experts" say that the wing helps with the aero push problem in that it provides comparable downforce to a spoiler without leaving as big a turbulent wake. who knows for sure though.

I don't believe the plate tracks became such until after the big bore cars had disappeared. And, it was not just the very high speed tracks that the Superbird and Dodge Daytona dominated. I saw many races at The Milwaukee Mile, and even on that flat track, the two Mopars did very well. I feel sorry for all you who have not heard those cars when they raced. The sound was pretty much the same from Chevy, Ford, Mercury, Dodge, Plymouth. But, the Pontiacs had a very different sound from the rest.

It will never happen. It would make NASCAR look bad to change something they designed.

I say remove the wing and the splitter, and make them run without any aero assitance. Then we'll see who can really drive!

I agree but they should only do that for the All-Star race. The only way you can make the race is to make it through qualifying without hitting anything at a reasonably fast speed. That would not only show who can really drive but it would mean the best drivers were in the ALL-STAR race.

Why would Nascar get rid of something on the car just because some fans think it's ugly.
Base on your other post "skew chassis", I think you should watch more of the race and less of the "fashion".

I think NASCAR needs to make some serious concessions on CoT. What they have now isn't really working. The wing doesn't need to go, but the wing settings need to be adjustable within limits so the CC's can get a grip on ALL tracks...
