"Unbelievable. Why is he dragging us all down with him by trying to claim he is still a motorcycle racer?" you really think thats funny Joe ? He was a little before my time but i seen some clips ....... he was really impressive .....more then what i seen Stoner do
Yeah I think its funny in a sad clown kind of way. It's unfortunate and selfish. He's using "motorcycle racer" as an excuse may help him in his punkish ways. In a small way that hurts the image of all of us.
I've watched his entire career. He started off with so much promise, then threw it away time and time again.
I have no idea if he's burned his family so many times they've written him off, but on the flip side my guess is they got a shot due to Anthony. I've never had a close family member in that state, but it would be hard for me to watch my brother go thru that.
Yes, at the end of the day, Gobert is a big boy and is responsible for himself. Also, and a HUGE also, I hope there is more to the story then him smacking down and robbing some old folks. No excuse there.
DOSED, I did not realize Gobert won a World Championship - or am I missing out on something??
Nope, he was never a World Champion. He won 8 or 9 WSBK races and quite few AMA races, but every time he seemed ready to take the next step he'd screw it up.
So sad what drugs can do to such a promising career. People need to remember that his first offense was for smoking pot. I guess its not as harmless as some would make it out to be.. .
Wasn't his very first offense when he failed the random drug test administered by the FIM when he had his brief Lucky Strike Suzuki GP ride? Or was his first offense something with Muzzy Kawi in WSB?
I have zero sympathy for anyone that has the world by the short hairs and throws it away like he did.I remember him talking about how bored he was in AMA and that he smoked pot and put on as much weight as he could just to see how heavy he had to get before it caused him to not be competitive. From there,he became a heroin junkie and was supposedly rehabbed. Now this.Enjoy your time in prison loser

I found this on his Wiki, but it only mentions him failing this 1 test He went to the 500cc World Championship in 1997 with the Lucky Strike Suzuki replacing Scott Russell as the number one rider, but was dismissed in mid-season after failing a drug test
and this in another article - they mention he was riding the Vance and Hines Ducati: Gobert was disqualified from the World Superbike race at Laguna Seca in 1998 for failing a drug test, and was also suspended from U.S. Superbike racing action that season for the same reason.
