For those who might be interested in voicing your concerns about the direction DMG is taking racing, contact the AMA on their new site. I sent them a message stating my thoughts and was given a reply with the address of the gent doing the change-over coordination. I wrote this gent with a sort of compilation of thoughts (the ones that I agree with anyway..!!)from the forums I visit, and am waiting breathlessly for the reply. I did not mince words - we shall see how they deal with my questions, thoughts and opinions.
Anyone think he'll answer, or is my message headed for the trash file???

I as an AMA privatear along with a hole list of Privatears Agrea we need a chang! It seems everyone is afrade of chang" WTF" without chang their would never be any progres! THE WORLD IS FLAT U WILL FALL OFF" I mean come on our sport needs to GROW! and if DMG is going to steep in and make some neaasary changes let then do it and see what coms from it! Who ever said roling starts that is"BS" that is not what thay are trying to do! thay are NOT going to try to turn our sport into NASCAR! Just level the playing field, witch is somthing that is long overdoo!!!
Who the hell is Chang and why is everyone afraid of him anyway?
Honestly, whether you are an AMA privateer or not, posts need to be a little more intelligent than this for me to take it seriously. Anyone can make a typo or misspell a word but this puppy borders on illiteracy. At a quick count I see 19 errors in a short message - that is SCARY.
The world may not be falling but test scores are...
This is a classic, I couldn't stop laughing. Who the hell is Chang, this made my day.

The AMA sold most of the racing series to be run by DMG. According to 2-3 posters here they're improving it, and to everyone else they're taking racing back 30 years. That pretty much sums it up.
Here's a synopsis posted from another forum. Zoot will be here shortly to correct the errors, and I have no doubt there are some:
They want to do away with 1000s - the factories are forcing them to stay but DMG will only agree to 2 years at this point, the class will be 'literbikes' and they will be far closer to stock than today.
There will be a 600 'superbike' class, their stupid MotoST class which runs 3 hour endurance races with 3 separate horsepower limited classes - an existing series which draws very few fans and the logic for running it is that the fans love singles and twins Rolling Eyes and a class for up-and-coming new riders potentially like the existing Red Bull series but no guarantees that it will be this specific class because, as I read it, they aren't sure that they can suck enough money out of Red Bull (and presumably because Red Bull is doing a FANTASTIC job so they must screw with it). All with spec tires, fuel and they seem to think they can do something like spec'ing ECUs.
The AMA is the laughing stock of the world now and it's going to get worse by all appearances. These bozos run NASCAR and they think they are going to take motorcycle racing to the masses and the attitude seems to be 'screw the existing fans, we'll get lots more'.
Oh, did I mention rolling starts and pace cars? Bringing back tracks like Loudon that were removed because they won't increase safety? Shocked
The future will set us back 20 years...
Oh, 1000s are not factory only as far as I know (my eyes glaze over when I read their bs so who knows?) but if the factory wants to race it must enter 4 riders...
#### good analysis Gary! I also heard rumors they were going to mandate training wheels beginning 2010-2012 as a transition to eventually add the series to Nascar Sprint Car Series. They are thinking they can use the class to entertain the fans prerace. Of course this would require teh bikes to appear at like 42 race events and turn left a lot.
600cc four wheelers with the top riders progressing to the Busch series before graduation to the "big leagues" of racing.
Hey didn't John Ulrich push the heck out of MotoST series? Is he part owner of the series? Also didn't ya all come down on our friend from the AMA last winter - Mr. Brown when he tried to warn everyone?

Ninja 250's would be more their speed because they could get big $'s from Kawi and the Ninja would be very affordable so all the riders could be privateers.
I think that's a very common misconception -- that a cheap small bike makes for cheap racing. It doesn't. If you look at AFM, which has had a 250 production class for some time now, at the front, it is one of the most expensive classes, offset only by savings in tires. As the horsepower goes down, two things happen: setup matters less and more people are able to ride the bike at the limit. Because of those 2 things, getting the most out of the engine becomes paramount if you want to be a contender. It's not uncommon in the AFM 250 production class for top people to be spending over $10,000 in engine work alone.

That depends on the level of modification allowed. DMG seems to lean towards stock.

My assumption is they will be very close to stock, since DMG isn't going to have many mods that are allowed in their "premier" superbike class I am sure they will not allow very many in their rookies cup class.
