I don't watch much motorcycle racing so please forgive me, but ...

Is there any track in any series that is oval shaped?

When I say oval, I mean oval ie. you only turn in ONE direction, not TWO.

Not that I know of in road racing, they race ovals in dirt track and ice racing. Ovals would cause tire problems in road racing.

Besides what would the point be?????

As far as road racing, the answer is 'thank God, no'.

They promise Loudon will be back. shut eye

The most prevelant oval racing is dirt track. It's very good stuff but it's been cut up and castrated here in the states.

Racing on asphalt, or paved, ovals has been done in the past. In Japan it's a big sport, but only because they can gamble on it. It's more like horse racing.

I think so. I had to change the pic as apparently the original's host doesn't like hot linking.

But then Loudon isn't an oval - it's a hole.

grin Can't wait until September! I'm looking forward to the Indy mile just as much as the MotoGP.

Yes, there is an oval track...motorcycle speedway...steer right to go left and no brakes! Extremely exciting. Bigger in Europe. grin http://www.xtremespeedwayaction.com/ will give you an idea...

Events like the Springfield Mile are your ticket for oval racing. But if you're talking about something along the lines of AMA Superbike being decided at Eldora, Bristol, or Talladega (the oval), then not only would I say no, but HELL no! It would be too unsafe racing a superbike on a full-on oval. Don't even get me started on "beatin' and bangin'" with superbikes at full song.

So if you want oval racing with motorcycles, either race Twin Ring Motegi (Superspeedway) in "Tourist Trophy" or just see some good old AMA Flat Track racing. I'd actually recommend you check out the Springfield Mile when the flat track racers make their rounds around the circuit.
