Is 5000 miles pushing it too far? I've got a V-Max... if you're unfamiliar, it's a liquid cooled V4 1200. The redline is 9k, which I occasionally exceed, but usually I'm well under. The synthetic I'm using is Mobil 1.
Is It Possible to Wear One Side of the Front Tire More Than the Other?

The right side of my VFR750 front tire is worn waaay more than the left. I don't make a habit of doing clockwise circles, either. Is it possible that I subconsciously corner much harder when turning right?

Exhaust Help-Laguna Seca

I was wondering if anyone who attended the MotoGP race at Laguna this year happen to notice one of the vendors set up by the exit from the dunlop bridge... they were set up in the white tents. They had a bike on display that had an exhaust system that was under neath the bike just like the new KTM sportbikes. I am trying to find out the name of the company.
Thanks in advance.

I have been unable to find any reliable information on this topic for a bike that is strictly used on the track. Any thoughts?

Aluminum frame vs. tubular steel

yo guys, i usually focus on the engine information, but can anyone enlighten me on the aluminum vs. tubular steel frame debate, i recognize ducati is the only manufacturer using tubular steel, while the rest use aluminum. my key indication is ts is heavier but, stronger. also if they switched, wouldn't the bike be lighter to a point where some other part can be added. as i am a noob at this topic, it'd b appreciated if anyone can thrown in facts about this.

s4r getting used to it

I just bought an 04 S4R with only 2k miles on it. 1st gear is pretty torquey and rough when downshifting to a stop or in slow traffic. (Seattle sees some slowdowns) Is this normal for a Duc? Otherwise, totally smooth after 3k rpm. This bike amps me up no doubt!

Power Loss at Altitude

Has anyone ever put any numbers on the amount of power lost at higher altitudes? I know it is significant, just wondering if there is any formula or figures.

I bought a new 1098 last spring and broke it in at 6500-7000 feet. Seemed to be fast enough, but when I took it to Laguna Seca in July and rode it around at sea level it was noticably quicker. Free horsepower!

Brake Line “Wire Ties” for Front Fork

I swear I have seen race bikes with things like wire or "zip" ties especially made to hold brake lines against fork tubes. I guess you could call them straps, but they look to be more like wire ties to me. It appears that they have small "bumps" in them that allow space for the hose, so the rest of the wire tie lays flat against the fork tube.

Anyone know what I'm talking about? Know of a source?
