For the past few Mondays HD Theater has been running highlights of various IOM classes. IMHO the HD is mindblowing.
Anyone else watching?

Alex Zanardi rides a bike

It's always cool to see a guy like Zanardi get on a bike and take it to its limits.

If you don't know, Zanardi was involved in a horrible accident in CART and had both his legs severed. Since then, he's done some test/demo laps in an F1 car, raced in the World Touring Car Championship (even won races!), and now going FAST on 2-wheels.

What Should John Hopkins Do?

Hopper's misfortune-frought 2009 season was rather tough to watch for all but the most diabolical Hopper Hater. 2008 went from being a year for him to step up to a nightmare and 2009 went from bad to worse. The question now is, how would/should he get his career back on track?

A. Try to take any ride available in Moto GP
B. Try to get a decent WSBK ride
C. Try to get a Moto2 ride
D. Try to get a BSB or AMASBK ride

I don't know what the general sentiment in the GP paddock is about him but I have to think that his stock is pretty low there now. With the poor economy rider salaries are down across the board to the point that guys like Vermeulen were willing to ride for free. On top of that there is a fresh crop of rookies vying for seats making it difficult for Hopper to score a good ride in the big show. Now all that's left is some rumored Italian privateer Moto GP project, which at best will be about as good as Ilmor was.

WSBK didn't have a bunch of great seats up for grabs this season and even if it did, Hopper's 2009 was one big DNF so it would've been a big risk to sign him for a factory ride. At this point there are only shady privateers left for grabs.

My feeling is that Moto2 might be the way to go for him. If he won the Moto2 title that would almost be a direct ticket right back into Moto GP. In WSBK he doesn't really have any options and going to a national championship would be two steps back (not to mention that AMASBK has gone to he11).

He wouldn't need to bring a boatload of $$$ to get a Moto2 seat either. Only problem is choosing the right team running the right chassis.

What is everyone else's take?

Superbikes (AMA, WSBK, BSB) Silly Season Thread

it's that time of year again. let's throw out what we know about openings and rumoured moves. Beginning with the factory teams.

WSBK:

Yamaha Italia: Spies signed for 2011. Sykes not confirmed, although Meregalli says he wants him.

Ten Kate: Rea and Kiyo almost certain, but biggest rumour is JT's return.

Brux Suzuki: Neukirchner locked in, but word is that Kagayama may be headed to BSB leaving an opening for? Vermin

Stiggy: Rumoured switch to Yamaha from Honda, but no announcement on Haslam or Hopper as yet.

Aprilia: Rumours of a big offer to Colin Edwards. Max is proably set.

Xerox Ducati: Did I really read that Haga may retire? Nah. Febreze has earned another season, for sure.

Paul Bird Kawasaki: Look set to retain the factory Kawasaki title *snicker*, but will Japan insist on Tamada or allow Birdy to ship him out. If so, might be a landing for someone like Shakey Byrne or Vermin. I can't imagine they'd ditch Parkes, but it's Kwack, so things don't always make sense.

BMW: Neither Corser nor Xaus confirmed, and with Neukirchner locked up for another season, they may very well go with the veterans until 2011. Certainly Troy Corser has done a good job developing the bike.

Their 2010 schedule consist of 4 events with a total of seven races. These are the same clowns who have destroyed the AMA series. Is this what we can look forward to?
