Will ALMS P2 be faster than Indycar before the Dallaras are retired?

Right now the ALMS Prototypes (I think P2) are a about a second slower on the pole lap at Bell Isle than Indycar. Given that the IndyCar series is going to stay with the Dallara for 2 more years, will the ALMS cars become faster road series race cars before Indycar retires their current tubs?

A lot has been said about what the next generation chassis should look like (raised nose vs. low nose, front vs. rear engine, wings vs. ground effects, etc.) and a lot has been said about the next generation engine (NA vs. turbo, 4, 6, or 8 cylinders, etc.), but I don't think anyone has really been talking about the gearbox. I know it isn't as sexy as an engine, but it's still a vital component and it can attract manufacturers.

Clearly paddleshift is here to stay if we like it or not. And I've been thinking about if we can improve on that. I've done some research on dual clutch transmissions, and I think this could be the perfect fit for the new car. Supposedly, they can shift faster than Formula 1 gear boxes, and are becoming relevant to street cars.

Should IndyCar make the shift (pun intended), or is there not enough interest to justify the idea?

Well i'm a 16 year old that lives in Oshkosh Wisconsin(i go to every race at RA, i'm one of the very few open wheel fans my age) but i have to do a project for my auto class and i chose to do mine about turbos. Me always trying to associate my school work with my hobbies i'm going to do it about turbos in race cars, champ cars, indycars or prototypes extc. Could one of you guys possibly explain the difference between a turbo charged DP01 vs. a Honda Dallera just about why the turbo is better and how it effects the car different. Thanks alot everybody for trying to help me out.

I was thinking about the future of Indycars looking at pics of F1s and Indycars and I want to know what are the benefits of having a raised nose like in F1 and CC and also the benefits of having the Nose lower to the ground like the current car and the cars previously used in AOW.

Does anyone know what the term "Enging Badging" means?

I read in Cavin's blog today that if they eliminate engine badging that other suppliers, namely Cosworth, might be interested in returning to Indycars. But Cavin went on to say that he does like badging.

Can anyone fill me in on what this is all about?

When Germany makes a statement about the direction of Automotive Engineering and the future - the world listens.

The president of Audi said; today.., "The future is electric." MBZ is in the process of releasing an all-electric 'Smart Car.' Their was a recent manufacterers summit in IndyCar racing. Since the new IndyCar chassis and engine combos won't come online for 2 to 3 years.., could hybrid/electric racing cars possibly be in play?

Question about 1980’s early 90’s indycars?

Hi i was told that maybe i should post this here. My question is i was watching this old race back when the cars had turbochargers it was in 1989 and they took a lap onboard with michael andretti and he got right up behind this other car - he was in the draft and when he got really close to the guy his engine made this noise it sort of sounded like a revlimiter. But i didn't think the cars back than had revlimiters i thought the popoff valve was what slowed the cars down or kept them at a certain speed?

Is it just me or do you guys think the new 2010/11 chassis needs a shark-fin like the current F1 Renault, Red Bull and 1996 Reynard Chassis had.

Does anyone out there think that some other racing series will follow IndyCar's lead and start using ethanol or any other "Green" fuel?
