US youngsters aiming for Ferrari F1 test

Seems that Matt Lee and Barrett Mertens are testing for Italian F3 team Alan Racing this week. Top 3 finishers in this championship last year got Ferrari F1 tests and this years top 3 will be partaking in Ferrari's young driver F1 tests in December.....

Kimball and Andretti Autosport agree to terms

2005 British F3 runner-up Charlie Kimball
have agreed to terms for the 2010 season
with Andretti Autosport/AFS.

Kimball - a winner in Europe, has an
extensive resume. Kimball is no stranger
with Andretti when he raced for team USA
in the A1GP series.

Edwards very likely to Indy Lights

John Edwards plans have evaporated in the Indy
Car ranks as he is looking his way in the
Indy Lights division. There is no doubt that
he is still young and the Indy Lights is a
very plausible route, but he is determined
for his dream in racing Formula 1 in the
future after winning the 2004 Red Bull Driver
Search. His GP2 plans have dwindled down.
And I was hoping he would get a taste of
GP2 as tests were underway at Paul Ricard.

We hope he has a ride for next year.

Pippa Mann..Lots of press for nothing?

I don't know how many times I've clicked on the Indy Lights page and WHAM there's Pippa Mann. I think the Indy Lights series wants to bring her to the fore front and make her in to the Light's version of Danica but she isn't. Danica at least can finish in the top 5 in points which isn't bad no matter how you look at it. Pippa can't even match her teammates and got her butt kicked by Ana Beatriz even though Ana missed a couple of races.

Pippa. Maybe she'll prove me wrong like Simona de Silvestro did this year in Atlantics.

Swift 016 approved for SCCA Club racing

The SCCA has finally approved the 016 (with various restrictions aimed at parity) for use in Formula Atlantic.

I suspect a number of teams that found themselves 'on the fence' will now sell their cars since there's a secondary market for them in club racing.

Two races for the 2010 F2000 season leaked… and additional information regarding the F2000 formula.

Two leaked races for the IRL's new F2000 series [in 2010] will be:
- Indianapolis
- Iowa

The IRL sanctioned F2000 races will be part of a triple bill with Firestone Indy Lights in addition to the IndyCar Series. The remaining 10 races will be held on road and street circuits in support of IRL-sanctioned events with at least two of them being doubleheaders to reduce operating expenses.

As it pertains to the formula for this new series, it will not be spec and it is as follows [for 2010]:
- Zetec engines
- Several chassis will be allowed including: Piper, Citation, Van Diemen, and Mygale among others.

“Our fallback is that we haven’t sold our Atlantic cars yet. We haven’t advised anyone on our team that we aren’t going to go forward if our sponsorship plans fall through. We also haven’t been paid the purses from the Atlantic Championship we were told we’d be given, so some of our move is centered around that.”

Umm..oops..If the Atlantic Series can't even pay their drivers what they're promised - they should fold.
