Rumor has it that GEM will be buying out BDR'S 22 Cup team and move to Toyota.

For the future health of GEM, which served as the flagship operation when Dodge returned to the sport in 2000, Gillett looks to lock down a Toyota connection before the stable fills.(Foxsports)

GO TOYOTA!!!

I've been hearing a lot these days about how F1 teams are operating at a deficit and how money that F1 makes should be distributed equally amongst the team.

How much money does F1 actually make? And how is the money divided among team?
For example, do the 1st place team get a certain percentage more than the 2nd place team and so forth?

NASCAR and the National Anthem

I am a longtime NASCAR fan. Followed the sport for over 30 years now. In light of the resurgence of patriotism after 9/11, it pains me to see these drivers, pit crew, wives, and even team owners not showing respect for the nation and the flag during the National Anthem.

During Saturday night's race I was reminded for what seems like the hudredth time that virtually no one on these race teams behaves appropriately during the National Anthem. Nascar, team owners, drivers and crew chiefs should all be ashamed of themselves for the way they appear on national television when the National Anthem is sung. Out of all the camera shots, ONE, Jimmy Johnson was the only one I saw properly addressing the Anthem. Hand over heart, hat off, facing the flag. All the other camera shots showed people talking, watching the fireworks, or something other than paying tribute to the flag and the National Anthem. This is the scene replayed week in and week out at any race.

Camera shots of the military and the crowd will predominantly show folks with their hats off, standing at attention, quiet and respectful. But when they cut back to a driver or crew member, who knows what you might see. With all the other "rules" and regulations handed down by NASCAR regarding proper conduct, I would think at the top of the list should be how to behave during America's National Anthem. I mean, this is stuff we learned at the grade school level of sports. Even the MLB, NBA and NFL teams, managers and coaching staff (well most) remove the hats and helmets and face the flag during the Anthem.

Why is NASCAR behind the times here?
