SPEED: What has been the reaction of your family and friends to Wrecked?
Gratzianna: “I knew the tow truck people would get the show, like it and watch it. As towers, if you see anything towing-related, you’re all over it. But I was very concerned about what my friends’ reaction would be and I wondered if the show would draw in John Q. Public and the motoring public.
“I’ve gotten tons of phone calls from high school and college buddies, as well as former employees I haven’t spoken to in years who wanted to say how much they are enjoying the show. I’ve also heard from numerous competitors and peers in the business. I’ve heard way more good comments than bad, so I think it’s a hit. But who’s going to pick up the phone and tell me it sucked? I’m just going to hear about the good ones.”
SPEED: What has the towing industry’s
reaction been to your participation in Wrecked?
Gratzianna: “All in all, I think the show has been a positive and the industry needs a bit of a positive upswing. The towing world nationwide gets some negative press and Wrecked is something that doesn’t portray us as pirates or thieves. It’s something that everyone in the industry knows we needed.
“There is a particular online chat room that seems to be one of the big mediums for tow-truck guys to communicate on the web. I’d say 95-percent of what’s on there is upbeat, positive and good. There are some sarcastic and negative comments but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
