Castroneves, a 14-time race winner for Penske since joining his organization in 2000, appeared upbeat as always.
"It's a little bit strange to be in this situation," said the 33-year-old Brazilian. "One thing I have to say, Roger and Tim, they back me up all the way. It's pretty good to have friends like that, first of all, and a good organization behind you like that, as well.
"I am innocent of these charges and I can't wait for this thing to be over so I can go back do what I love most, which is racing."
As it turned out, Penske had plenty of talent to choose from as Ryan Hunter-Reay, Oriol Servia and, Paul Tracy and Justin Wilson were also available.
"It was an easy decision for me because I had nothing else," said Power with a smile. "But it was also easy because it's Roger Penske."
Depending on the outcome, Cindric did not rule out running all three drivers in May.
"There's nothing we'd rather do than have Helio for the Indy 500 but that answer will be a lot more obvious in a few months."
