SPEED To Air NCTS Daytona Testing Special Jan. 11
It's been 54 days since Ron Hornaday beat Mike Skinner for the 2007 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship in the season finale at Homestead. At SPEED, those 54 days provided time for the motor sports authority to kick things up a few notches for the 2008 NASCAR season.
On the tails of one of the most competitive points battles in years, SPEED is revving up to bring Truck Series fans the best season ever with dramatic changes that will be evident long before the haulers park at Daytona.
"We were on the edge of our seats with a historic points battle in the Truck Series last season that literally went down to the wire," said SPEED President Hunter Nickell. "SPEED was there for every second of every lap and delivered to the fans the stories and people behind the rivalries. This season promises to be just as fiercely competitive and we plan to bring the Truck Series racing alive each week with Hi-Def, expanded Speedweeks coverage, a special NCTS Setup and the re-launch of SPEEDtv.com in widescreen format. We've made a lot of significant changes this season and with SPEED, NASCAR fans won't miss a thing."
For the first time ever,
NCTS Setup, hosted by Krista Voda, will return for its second season to bring fans up to speed before the green flag waves. A special version of the popular pre-race show will kick off the 2008 season prior to the Daytona race. Rick Allen will provide play-by-play with race analysis from Phil Parsons and Michael Waltrip. Adam Alexander and Ray Dunlap will cover pit road.
Additionally, as in 2007, two NCTS races will be broadcast on FOX (Fontana, Martinsville), with the remainder of the events live and exclusive to SPEED.
For the NASCAR fans who cannot wait until Speedweeks, SPEED will air a Jan. 11 (7 p.m. ET) NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series test session recap from Daytona. John Roberts will host the special with analysis from Dunlap and Parsons. SPEED will broadcast 100 hours of Speedweeks coverage beginning with its HD debut Feb. 7, an all-time high over the previous 75 hours.
Furthermore, SPEED has a solution for any fan who missed the live action on television. SPEEDtv.com will re-launch in widescreen format with several new features Feb. 6.
